Let's face it, most people under the age of 25 aren't watching long-form movies or network television. Instead, YouTube and TikTok have become their go-to entertainment platforms. Reflecting this shift, this year's NAB Show focused heavily on the creator economy, offering sessions on topics like content monetization, video transformation, AI, and mobile content creation.
This year, YouTube was reported to be larger than Netflix in terms of user base and revenue, boasting over 2.7 billion monthly active users and ranked as the second most visited website after Google. VidCon 2024, held from June 26–29 at the Anaheim Convention Center, is not only the mecca for YouTube enthusiasts but also the premier convention for online video creators.
VidCon 2024, held from June 26–29 at the Anaheim Convention Center, is the mecca for YouTube enthusiasts.
Founded by veteran YouTube creators Hank and John Green, VidCon began as a small gathering in a Los Angeles hotel with just over 1,400 attendees. It has since grown, mirroring the rise of digital content and social media platforms. Now attracting tens of thousands of attendees worldwide, VidCon hosts a diverse array of panels, workshops, and performances, offering insights into the latest digital media trends. With international events in Australia, the UK, and Mexico, VidCon continues to be the ultimate destination for creators, brands, and fans to celebrate the world of online video.
Show Us Your Colors
At VidCon 2024, LUMIX made a notable presence by exhibiting the new S9. The booth attracted a large number of young content creators and YouTube fans eager to get hands-on with the new camera and explore its advanced features firsthand. Appropriately, the booth mascot was a large chameleon, symbolizing the vibrant colors of the S9 and the diverse looks you can create with the camera. We also showcased the new GH7, as well as S5II, and S5IIX models.

In addition to exploring the camera, attendees enjoyed creating different looks with the new LUMIX Lab app. This app provided an interactive platform for users to experiment with various settings and styles, enhancing their content creation work.
I’ve Got a Golden Ticket
One of our booth's greatest attractions was the confetti chamber, which gave individual attendees the chance to win a new S9 and 20-60mm F3.5-5.6 lens by grabbing a single golden ticket in the flurry of confetti. The combination of the S9 camera, the LUMIX Lab app, and the exciting confetti chamber proved to be a hit, drawing crowds and generating excitement among the creative community at VidCon.
S9 winner Jeremiah Joseph (IG: @jayskateday) holds his new S9 kit.
One memorable winner was Jeremiah Joseph (IG: @jayskateday), who creates content on skateboarding, how-to videos, and has just started making vlogs. “I go by Jay Joseph on Instagram,” explained Joseph. “I use 'Jay' to honor my dad, who got me into cameras and making videos for YouTube. I primarily shoot with my iPhone, but now I have a 'real' up-to-date camera that shoots in 4K. It's amazing, and I'm so grateful to LUMIX."
