Features

In response to the demand from the film production market, log video recording (V-Log L) is now available for the LUMIX GH4, and offers exceptional flexibility as well as wider dynamic range for color grading in post-production process. V-Log / V-Log L were developed to feature similar characteristics to Cineon, which is a characteristic curve for film digitalization. Taking full advantage of Four Thirds sensor, V-Log L boasts a log characteristic with 12 stops. Both V-Log and V-Log L have the same characteristic curve, and LUT (Look Up Table) can be utilized.

Rated 3.3 out of 5 by 25 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by Requires External Recorder Recording using V-LOG L via internally will be not so good. Well not exactly amazing, but more work to be done. The capabilities of 8-bit with the V-LOG L setting doesn't work too well. Now if paired up with an external recorder, recording in 10-bit, this package is definitely great. February 17, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice update I agree with everyone on this, boggles my mind they sent a piece of paper by mail, and it was back ordered for a few weeks. It's just a number and the install process was very strange compared to past firmware upgrades. But it's worth it, because after doing just one shoot in vlog and using the varicam lut in premiere lumetri cc, fantastic results with just some minimal tweaking to get great results. Love how the highlights are so harsh. February 4, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Footage is not useable at all V-log would be wonderful IF... you never filming walls, especially white wall or white things generally. Noise is not the problem. The real problem is the magenta or red artefacts if you film grey or white walls. Not useable footage - no way to use. I hope so much they will fix the problem in the next update, that should come soon. February 2, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by DMW-SFU1-VLOG, could not figure out how to use it I wated a week for the download code to be sent by Fedex, it could have been via e-mail, the industry standard. The instructions were in 100 differenrt languages were so small that I needed a magnifying glass, but still could not get understand them. I AM GUESSING THIS IS SIMILIAR TO A FIRWARE UPDATE, WHAT VERSION FIRMWARE IS NEEDED? January 1, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great feature, not so good execution Finally vlog for the gh4. However, I don't understand why it needs to be mailed. Also, the instructions aren't that clear. First, make sure your firmware is up to date. But the steps to download the camera's serial number to the sd card, upload to a Panasonic website, then copy the update to that same sd card and FINALLY install it on the camera are not very specific. And if you're battery is completely charged, literally, the camera will not start the install process. December 30, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Digital Film maker Love it. I use this product every day and along with Film Convert I an able to get the most outstanding pictures out of my new favorite camera the Lumix GH 4. U have 2 get this! And shoot everything in V LOG get used 2 it and watch just how your vision comes true. December 23, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Mixed feelings As an amateur shooter this profile was a good investment in that I get to experiment with a professional feature on a low budget camera. The complaints about properly exposing being difficult and only getting the full benefit from this with an external recorder have been true in my experience but then again, I am an amateur. The fact that I had to pay extra for it was very annoying because like others have mentioned, other manufacturers delivered similar features for free. But I'd buy it again for the learning opportunity. December 11, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by VLOG PHOTOS I was under the impression when I purchased this, that VLOG worked in the Photo mode also. When I loaded it, only works in Video Mode. Thats a shame. Pain to install and gnarly process the whole way around including installing new firmware. December 9, 2015
