In response to the demand from the film production market, log video recording (V-Log L) is now available for the LUMIX, and offers exceptional flexibility as well as wider dynamic range for color grading in post-production process. V-Log / V-Log L were developed to feature similar characteristics to Cineon, which is a characteristic curve for film digitalization. Taking full advantage of Four Thirds sensor, V-Log L boasts a log characteristic with 12 stops. Both V-Log and V-Log L have the same characteristic curve, and LUT (Look Up Table) can be utilized.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A JOKE! The journey you have to take to install it is a real joke! Then you realise that it's not optimized for 8-bit! So some shoots will be useless using the V-Log actually! Just based on that you should be refunded! And then there is no standard LUT from Panasonic made for the GH5?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The worst experiance ever So I purchased v log and for a whole week now following the directions specifically I have been trying to install v log onto my gh5. But everytime I pop my lexar sd card back into my camera and go to import activation. It reads back 'no activation code' this is extremely frustrating. This is my 9th time downloading and going through the process

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Getting a bit more out of it. I think that the GH 3,4,and 5 have all set the bar, each in their respective timelines. In tune with the trend that each of these cameras have enabled many filmmakers and exceeded most anything that the competition offered to the filmmaker, the addition of vlog is representative of the kind of commitment that Panasonic and LUMIX are willing to go to help filmmakers. While it's not for everybody, it is certainly welcome in the film / video community. It is a solid product that performs well. With vlog I can now think about doing good robust color work and do not have to worry over the image in post. Having said that, it would be great to have it included as an option, rather than as another product for sale. The dilevery method for this is also a little silly, would rather see a couple of encrypted password double blind checks using just the camera info and internet, rather than a physically mailed sticker.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't Bother!! I love this camera but it just isn't designed to shoot in log at 8 or 10 bit. Very noisy. Stick with the Cine D or V profiles (plenty of resources on how to flatten them out for grading in post). The GH5 looks very promising!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cannot activate I bought a brand new v-log key code to use on a new GH4. I followed the instructions, and got "ERROR!!: The product of the serial code is already activated with another key code. Activated product can not be activated again with another key code of same functions." Now what do I do?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Requires External Recorder Recording using V-LOG L via internally will be not so good. Well not exactly amazing, but more work to be done. The capabilities of 8-bit with the V-LOG L setting doesn't work too well. Now if paired up with an external recorder, recording in 10-bit, this package is definitely great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice update I agree with everyone on this, boggles my mind they sent a piece of paper by mail, and it was back ordered for a few weeks. It's just a number and the install process was very strange compared to past firmware upgrades. But it's worth it, because after doing just one shoot in vlog and using the varicam lut in premiere lumetri cc, fantastic results with just some minimal tweaking to get great results. Love how the highlights are so harsh.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Footage is not useable at all V-log would be wonderful IF... you never filming walls, especially white wall or white things generally. Noise is not the problem. The real problem is the magenta or red artefacts if you film grey or white walls. Not useable footage - no way to use. I hope so much they will fix the problem in the next update, that should come soon.
