The Panasonic–Olympic partnership dates back more than 25 years

It all started with 1988 Olympic Games in Calgary when Panasonic first served as an official Olympic Partner. The Panasonic - Olympic Games relationship has proven long lasting thanks in part to the similarity between the Olympic Games' mission--"a peaceful and better world through sport,"-and Panasonic's own Management Philosophy which calls on us to "devote ourselves to the well-being of people through our business activities."

More AV Equipment than Ever

Since the Barcelona Games in 1992, Panasonic's professional broadcasting equipment has served as the official video recording system helping to deliver the inspiration of the games to the world. For the Rio Olympics, Panasonic is providing more AV equipment than it has to any other Olympic competition. Some 72 large-screen LED Panasonic displays have been installed at 35 venues. Panasonic has already delivered about 15,000 televisions and more than 150 digital light processing projectors to Rio venues. In addition, Panasonic's broadcasting and professional camera systems (P2HD Series) are slotted for the Games' video recording systems and have been supplied to the International Broadcast Center.

Illuminating Maracana Stadium

The spiritual home of Brazilian football, Maracana Stadium is hosting opening and closing ceremonies. The venue presents physical limitations, which Panasonic is addressing through ingenuity in system design. In all, Panasonic is staging around 110 compact projectors (PT-DZ21K2) which offer 20,000-lumen brightness and high picture quality, as well as 2ME live switchers (AV-HS6000 Series) set for multiple broadcasting standards.

Expanding the Reach of the Olympics

By installing large LED screens at Rio's Barra and Deodoro areas, Panasonic is giving people outside the stadia walls a chance to experience the live excitement of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Panasonic's video technologies will help bring the emotion of the wins—and losses—to many more enthusiasts.

Helping Out Referees

Panasonic is delivering "Sports Presentation" AV solutions to enliven the viewing experience for spectators on site. It is also supplying video referee solutions to support judges at swimming, canoeing, weightlifting and other events.

Official Partner

For the first time, Panasonic will serve as official partner for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games with exciting, new innovative solutions.
