Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Good Purchase This Tv is just great...from shipping to delivery and I have purchased 2 others(smaller) for my other rooms! No delivery problems at all plus the cartons were all in perfect shape. Color is great, easy to operate... I will be shopping for another smaller one for my kitchen! Thanks Panasonic for such a great product...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from trading in for upgrade went from 34" hd to 50" plasma, nice picture but coloring leaves much to be desired. Was recommended to have tv calibrated. Why spend the money. New 600hz factory calibrated to THX standards. Would highly recommend to go to the g10 series

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great color, Great Service - BUT With the exception of the HD flesh tone color banding on bright lit stages, news anchors, Opra, etc., This TV Rocks for the price. The superbowl was awsome. Granted sports games subjects use primary colors but HD on this 50" is much better than the LCDs in the same size and price range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Phenomenal TV!! My wife bought the Panasonic TH-50PZ85U for me as a birthday present back in April. The picture on this set, especially with my PS3 Blu ray player is truly breath-taking. I still get comments from other people with slightly older projection HDTV sets commenting on how amazing the picture is. As an avid Consumer Reports reader foir over a decade, I knew this set was excellent from reviews and I hav edefinitely not been disappointed. Way to go Panasonic!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Far exceeded Expectation I looked at HDTV's for a long time before picking the 50PZ85U and have to say I could not be happier with this TV. The anti-glare screen coating works very well, something I have been worried about with a Plasma screen. Out of the box the TV has a great picture but with a calibration Blu-Ray disc and a little time the picture is stunning! Not only does it have comprehensive picture controls but the lack inter-action between the controls is the best I have even seen. The 4 picture "pre-sets" allow you to optimize the picture for whatever conditions or picture style you want, I used it to optimizer to high/low abient lights and 1080p or 480i source material, so no matter what I am watching or when I get a great picture. The sound could be a little better but by turning on the bass boost and setting the bass and treble to 65% the internal speakers jumped right up to sounding about a good as you can expect from internal speakers. Overall number of connections was just right for me, as for the physical looks, it is an impressive looking set. The only ding I would give it is that it loses the date and time when the power is disconnected, it keeps all other settings and not that I unplug it a lot, I noticed this when I moved the power from a regular plug to a power conditioner/protection system. They are easy enough to set again, it pwoers on asknig for it, but no idea why they did not protect that information. There is no doubt there is a lot of value for the dollar in this HDTV and I would easily recommend it to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great picture I have had the TV for over a month now. Great quality and very easy to use. I wanted a 1080P TV to use my PS3 Blue Ray player and the picture is simply amazing. Anyone looking at quality and action handling, there isn't a LCD that compares to the value of this unit. I would recommend to a friend.

Owner's Manuals
  • What should I do if my TV will not turn on and the power indicator LED is not flashing?
    Follow these troubleshooting steps:
    • Make sure your TV's power cord is plugged into an electrical outlet.
    • Make sure the electrical outlet the TV is plugged into has power by testing known working device in that outlet.
    • After verifying the TV is plugged into a working outlet, try pressing the [POWER] button on the TV instead of the TV remote.
If the outlet is working and the TV will not turn on after pressing the [POWER] button on the TV, please consider having the unit serviced. Click here for Panasonic Service Locator.
  • What should I do if the front Power indicator LED light is blinking?
    1. Unplug the TV's power cord.
    2. Unplug all cables.
    3. Power the TV using a different power outlet (do not use a power strip or surge protector).

If the problem persists, consider having the TV serviced. Click here for Panasonic Service Locator.

Note: Count how many times the LED light blinks. This can help a technician troubleshoot the problem.
  • What should I do if I get audio but no picture from an external device connected to my TV?
    • Try unplugging the cable between the TV and the external device and reconnecting it firmly on both sides.
    • Try unplugging the power cord of the external device for 30 seconds.
    • Try connecting another external device to the same input using the same cable.
    • If the picture returns on the second device, you may need to contact the manufacturer of the first external device you had connected for further troubleshooting.
    • Try using a different cable between your device and the TV using the same input of your TV. If you get a picture and audio, you may need to replace your cable.
    • Try another input of the TV to verify if there is an issue with the TV input the external device was connected to.
  • What should I do if I have bars displaying on the TV screen?
Change the format (aspect ratio) of the picture by pressing the [FORMAT] or [ASPECT] button on the TV's remote control. If you still have bars, check the aspect settings on your external video source, such as Cable/Satellite box, DVD/Blu-ray Disc player, etc. Note: Some content, such as film-based movies, are available in extra-wide format. Top and bottom bars are unavoidable.
