TH-50PZ80U is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from short and sweet. at 54 years old this is definitely the best TV I've ever owned. I bought this TV in 2009 and was one of the best decisions I made. 100% satisfied with the over all quality and performance of this television. I only wish I would have bought 2 at that time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A pleasant surprise I had no intention on buying a plasma tv, but was given a great price on a demo. Actually, a salesperson convinced me, for I had planned on purchasing another lcd tv bigger than the 46" i already have. preferably a 52" model. I bought it on 5/11/09, only 2 weeks ago. So far so good. Lastly, with the tv being a display model, was set in demo mode. So I had to reset treble, bass etc. settings whenever I turned on the tv. I called customer service, they helped me take it out of that mode. I'll check back in 3 months with an update.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from never again I bought this t.v. 2/11/09 which was about two months ago now.At first i was very happy with the purchase the price was good and the picture and ease of use was also great but now as i go into my second month of owning this t.v. i turn it on one morning to find a black line running down the center and come to find out the whole plasma panel has to be replaced just after two months use.Needless to say i'm not very happy with this product since i invested so much money to own it ,i expected at the very least six or seven years before i had to do any kind of repairs not just two months.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy The color saturation, clarity and brightness are excellent. I have had it for about 6 months now and I feel it was worth every penny. I did a lot of research before buying and for the price nothing could touch it. I use it for a wide variety of viewing, but mostly Xbox gaming. Halo 3, Gears, etc in HDMI 1080P looks freakin’ awesome!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another Amazing Panasonic Product I purchased this TV as well as an SC-BT100 Blu-ray disk player/home theater system... and both are fantastic. This TV in particular is absolutely stunning when viewing a 1080p signal (Tested using the above mentioned BD player and 007 Casino Royal). Absolutely no dead pixels, no locked pixels, no imperfections (except my darn finger prints from setting it up...)... a PERFECT Television. Easiest television I've ever set up. Overall, I give it 25/25 Stars. I want one for every room in the house!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Viera is the One I looked around and researched till my eyes hurt. I initially didn't want to spend too much on a new TV. I bought an 40" LCD at first. I was afraid of burn-in so I skipped the plasmas - even though I really wanted one. I got home and hated the motion blur on football and movies. I saw a sale for a 46" LCD of the same brand. I went and looked at it. I was gonna live with the blurring to get a bigger TV (it was only $40 more on sale). I talked to a guy that said he had a Panasonic Viera, and had accidentally left a static image on the TV for 3 days. He said the white bar on the TV's anti-retention section totally wiped out the slight image retention. He was an employee and showed me the anti-retention features at the store. I had been told at other stores that the Viera was the way to go for plasmas. But they were expensive. I decided to pay the extra money for the 50" Viera. I have been nothing more than elated. The picture is amazing, the Viera Concierge 24/7 toll-free help line is as good as it gets, and YEAH - no motion blur! One thing, cable broadcasts can put out weak signals that can mimic motion-blur. It's not the TV. I though it was at first, got a little irritated, then realized it's the signal. Somebody told me plasmas don't get very bright. That's not true. This TV will get as bright as you want, and has great contrast too. Buy this TV!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best HDTV for the Price Did lots of research and found this unit for a great price on Black Friday.I've been extremely pleased with the color, perormance and ease of use. Highly recommended, even when compared with units costing twice as much. Love it so much, want others to know about it. Remote is a bit chintzy, but got a Logitech Harmony 880 to replace.

  • What should I do if my TV will not turn on and the power indicator LED is not flashing?
    Follow these troubleshooting steps:
    • Make sure your TV's power cord is plugged into an electrical outlet.
    • Make sure the electrical outlet the TV is plugged into has power by testing known working device in that outlet.
    • After verifying the TV is plugged into a working outlet, try pressing the [POWER] button on the TV instead of the TV remote.
If the outlet is working and the TV will not turn on after pressing the [POWER] button on the TV, please consider having the unit serviced. Click here for Panasonic Service Locator.
  • What should I do if the front Power indicator LED light is blinking?
    1. Unplug the TV's power cord.
    2. Unplug all cables.
    3. Power the TV using a different power outlet (do not use a power strip or surge protector).

If the problem persists, consider having the TV serviced. Click here for Panasonic Service Locator.

Note: Count how many times the LED light blinks. This can help a technician troubleshoot the problem.
  • What should I do if I get audio but no picture from an external device connected to my TV?
    • Try unplugging the cable between the TV and the external device and reconnecting it firmly on both sides.
    • Try unplugging the power cord of the external device for 30 seconds.
    • Try connecting another external device to the same input using the same cable.
    • If the picture returns on the second device, you may need to contact the manufacturer of the first external device you had connected for further troubleshooting.
    • Try using a different cable between your device and the TV using the same input of your TV. If you get a picture and audio, you may need to replace your cable.
    • Try another input of the TV to verify if there is an issue with the TV input the external device was connected to.
  • What should I do if I have bars displaying on the TV screen?
Change the format (aspect ratio) of the picture by pressing the [FORMAT] or [ASPECT] button on the TV's remote control. If you still have bars, check the aspect settings on your external video source, such as Cable/Satellite box, DVD/Blu-ray Disc player, etc. Note: Some content, such as film-based movies, are available in extra-wide format. Top and bottom bars are unavoidable.
