Picture Quality

Crisp, Clear Moving Picture

600Hz Sub-field Drive

Panasonic uses its own unique image-analysis technology. This technology converts the motion in each scene into data, and each frame is virtually displayed in a shorter length of time, to create crisp images.

*When using Cinema mode

Clear Images from Any Angle

Viewing Angle Free

Self-illuminating plasma displays can be viewed from anywhere in the living room without any color fading, so images are always clear and beautiful. Each pixel appears exactly the same, so there is no difference in colors even when viewed from an angle.

* Measured using an index for evaluating color viewing angles developed by the Advanced PDP Development Center Corporation (APDC). This ensures that you will enjoy exceptional viewing quality even in the largest living rooms.

Get More Excitement Out of Gaming

Game Mode

Games are much more fun when there's no lag in operation. VIERA automatically chooses settings that provide the optimal image, so you get super-fast response and no delays. Even dark scenes with delicately rendered details are beautiful and easy to see. Game mode makes all of the game apps on VIERA Connect even more fun to play.

Play Various Types of Formats Easily

Media Player

Simply insert an SD Memory Card or USB memory stick into the slot to enjoy previously saved photos, video clips and music on VIERA's large screen. You can also add frames and other effects to your photos and videos, and create slide shows complete with background music. A wide variety of formats are supported, so you can listen to PC-based music files and web movies right on your TV.

* Applicable formats vary depending on the model.

One Remote Controls Them All

VIERA Link™

VIERA Link interlinks the operation of various AV devices, so you can operate them all using only the

VIERA remote. Setup is easy, too – simply connect the devices to each other via HDMI cables.

Eco

Environment-Friendly Panel

Mercury and Lead Free

Panasonic is committed to making our products more friendly to the environment. In line with this commitment, all VIERA plasma display panels are free of both lead and mercury. This reduces the impact on the environment years down the road when the TV is recycled or retired from use.

Mercury and Lead Free

Years of Beautiful Images

Long Panel Life

One important way consumers can protect the environment is by choosing high-quality products and taking care of them so they last for a long time. A high-quality VIERA HDTV can help. Thanks to a newly designed phosphor process and rear panel process, our plasma panels last for up to 100,000 hours before the brightness decreases by half. That's more than 30 years of viewing 8 hours a day.

* This measurement is based on the time taken for the brightness of the panel to reduce to half of its maximum level. The time taken to reach this level may vary depending on the image content and the environment where the TV is used. Image retention and malfunctions are not taken into account.

Searching for Waste and Automatically Saving Power

Eco Mode

This mode automatically turns the power off and adjusts the brightness depending on VIERA's operating status.

No Signal for 10 Minutes or No Activity
for 3 Hours

This setting automatically turns the power off when there's no image signal for 10 minutes or more, or when there's no activity for 3 hours or more.

Power Save

This setting adjusts screen brightness to reduce power consumption.

Adjusts Screen Brightness to Suit the Room

C.A.T.S. [Contrast Automatic Tracking System]

This detects the brightness of the room and automatically adjusts screen brightness accordingly. When the room darkens, it lowers the screen brightness and adjusts the image quality for easier viewing while suppressing power consumption.

Ecological and Easy

Power Saving Functions in VIERA Link™

The power of each connected device is adjusted depending on usage to reduce wasteful usage.

Standby Power Save

When VIERA is turned off, the power consumption of connected devices* is minimized.

* VIERA models for 2009 or above, and video products for 2009 or above compatible with Power Save or Quick Start.

** The power consumption value differs depending on the discs used in connected devices and the usage conditions.

Intelligent Auto Standby

Power consumption is minimized by using VIERA Link™ control for interconnected devices.

* VIERA models for 2009 or above, and video products for 2009 or above compatible with Power Save or Quick Start.

TC-P60U50 is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible Picture and Bang for the Buck Bought this to replace another brand's flagship 3D in 58 inch. Just couldn't get an acceptable picture for the dollars spent after attempting calibration from on-line sights several times. Bought this at an electronics big box chain as an "open box". Got it home and set up was a breeze. Picture literally knocks yer socks off ! Automatic brightness feature is great for changing the lighting in the viewing room. If you don't need a lot of "fluff features", 'cause I never used them, then this Panasonic HDTV can't be beat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wish I could see the score. So when watching the game the score is cut off. I have go through all the format and aspect settings and ready what Panasonic has to say. They say its Dish. Dish claims its the tv. Needs more HDMI but for the money good set.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The BEST VALUE HDTV available A great picture at a super price. Fantastic for sports. This is my third Panasonic TV, second plasma and it replaces a projection. My previous TVs have never ever needed service (over 8 years of cumulative use).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic! Had a 55" LED for 10 days. Took it back and got this Plasma. Should have stuck with my research and not got fooled by in store displays of lcd's. Plasma is the way to go. It blew away the LED I had. I got tired of the motion blur in the LED. Picture quality is fantastic compared to LED. A little heavier but not so heavy that me and my wife couldn't lift it. More bang for the buck. Cost less than the 55" LED I took back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2nd Panasonic Plasma Purchased a 42" Panny last year at this time and have had 0 issues so when it came time to replace the old rear projection TV in the family room, I checked prices and found this 60" at a great price at WalMart. Couldn't be happier. Great picture quality!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FANTASTIC I did a lot of research before I purchased this TV, I have LED, LCD units but nothing I have or had compares to the picture quality of this Plasma. The sound quality is as good, I want to connect surround sound to my TV once I talk to a Panasonic rep. I consider this a value. Thanks Panasonic for the quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 50in Great 1yr later Great TV. The sleep timer is a few steps, (unless i read the manual and find out how to set it to 1 step maybe) but the auto off/on is cool. The connections are reasonably limited, Hdmi and sd card slot are also very cool, but if you have more than a video game system and a cable box to hook up.. there's a reason you pay more for those. i had to convince the upgrade to the 50...plenty- and appreciate it every day, but the 60's are awesome. yes i recommend

  • I can access other Apps on my TV, but cannot access Netflix. How can I fix this?
    Symptoms:
    • When the Netflix app is selected, the Netflix splash screen appears, then Netflix closes and returns to the VIERA Cast home screen, Network Services screen, or HOME screen.
    • When the Netflix app is selected, "Unable to Connect to Netflix. Please Try Again Later" is displayed
    • Netflix can be accessed, but when a title is selected, "Unable to Play This Title Right Now. Please Try Again Later" is displayed.
    • Netflix can be accessed, a title can be selected, but during playback the picture blanks out, buffers, or freezes frequently.

    Additional Information:
    • Network applications on Panasonic products are only accessible on networks with high speed internet access.

    Suggested Solution:
    • Power the Netflix ready device on and allow at least 90 seconds for it to connect to the network before performing a Connection Test.
    • Once the Connection Test has passed, attempt to open the Netflix application. If the Netflix application fails to open, manually change the Primary DNS settings to 8.8.8.8 and the Secondary DNS to 8.8.4.4. If there is only one DNS setting available, change it to 8.8.8.8 (click here for a TV network troubleshooting tutorial.)
    • Once the DNS has been changed, perform another Connection Test.
    • Once the Connection Test has passed, attempt to open the Netflix application.
    • If none of your applications can be accessed, unplug the power cord of your modem or router for at least 10 seconds. This will reboot your modem or router.
    • If the Netflix application still fails to open, try another network application. If other applications function properly but Netflix does not click here for Netflix Help Center or call Netflix customer support at 1-866-716-0414.

  • The power light on the TV is on steady, but I do not have a picture, sound or both?
This could be caused by a few factors:

First check to ensure your TV is selected to the correct input (Source). If you are watching cable or satellite, following the cable from that device to the back of your TV.
If it is connected to antenna, HDMI 1/2/3, component or video you must also have the TV input select to match that connection. On the remote push the input button to check what source is selected on your TV.
Very important, you must ensure your cable box or satellite unit is turned on.
On some cable and satellite boxes, you may get audio with no picture if the box is turned off. If this does not resolve your issue, you may require service.
