THX Certified Display

THX reproduces movie images exactly as the movie's creators intended them. In the early 1980's, Lucasfilm, established the THX Standard to stipulate the audio and video quality criteria for cinema environments. The overall aim was to improve the experience of cinema-goers and faithfully recreate the audio and visual ambience that film makers intended. VIERA meets the high standards set by the THX Certified Display Program.

* THX and the THX logo are trademarks of THX Ltd. which may be registered in some Jurisdiction. All rights reserved.

VIERA Image Viewer

It's easy to view full-HD images with the SD card slot. Watch and show your photos and motion images right after you take them. Simply insert an SD card into VIERA to display photos and full-HD videos on the large screen.
You can also choose from among 3 types of background music and 4 display effects. It's much more fun when you can view them on a large-screen HDTV with family and friends in 1920 x 1080-pixel high definition and a wide 16:9 aspect ratio.

600Hz Sub-field Drive*

600Hz technology lets you view superb full-HD motion and still images with 1,080 lines of resolution**. For even greater clarity with motion images, Panasonic uses its own unique image-analysis technology. This technology converts the motion in each scene into data. And each frame is practically displayed for a shorter length of time than in previous systems, to reduce aftereffects.

* when using cinema mode
** Based on APDC measurement method.

High Contrast (Native 40,000:1)

New VIERA models incorporate an improved panel production process and the new Real Black Drive system. A pre-discharge control system, the Real Black Drive system combines with NeoPDP technology to achieve next-generation black reproduction. When you're watching movies, VIERA renders images just the way the director intended, even in scenes where it's difficult to achieve a proper balance of light and dark.

Wide Color Viewing Angle

View breathtaking images with rich, vivid colors from anywhere in the room. Because plasma TVs are self-illuminating, images look beautiful from any angle. Black areas do not fade, and colors look virtually the same no matter where you sit.

* Measured using an index for evaluating color viewing angle developed by the Advanced PDP Development Center Corporation (APDC). This ensures that you will enjoy exceptional viewing quality even in the largest living rooms.

AR Filter

This advanced filter keeps images sharp, with minimal glare. While dramatically reducing reflections from external light, it helps to produce clear images. This filter creates pure, crisp images in a wide range of colors.

VIERA Link

VIERA Link allows interconnected operation of various AV devices using only the VIERA remote control, by simply connecting the devices to each other by an HDMI cable.

* VIERA Link is a Panasonic Distinctive name for the function of HDAVI control. Not all VIERA Link features are useable with earlier VIERA Link compatible products.

VIERA Tools

With the new VIERA Tools user interface, simply press a button on the remote control and icons such as the photos or movies from the menu screen. Now you can just select the one you want. This kind of easy operation means you have more fun and less hassle.

* VIERA Tools screen design image is subject to change without notice.
** The screen display varies depending on the model.

Game Mode

In Game mode, quicker image response increases the enjoyment of video games when a game console is connected to the TV. What's more VIERA produces the dark images in video games more clearly. This mode works anti-image retention (wobbling) too.

Reviews

TC-P54G10 is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better Than I Hoped! I decided to wait a couple months after receiving my G10 before writing the review, so the 'new buyer' feeling would have worn off so as not to bias my comments. But after almost 3 months, I still have that 'new buyer' feeling, because this set is just THAT GOOD. I did hours and hours of research, comparing images between the G10 and other models (including LED/LCD sets) and finally settled on the G10, and don't regret that decision at all. Personally, I am not thrilled at this point with the quality of LED/LCD TV's. I see constant tearing and stuttering, even though my wife (who shopped with me) couldn't see it. I did not have this problem with the plasmas I viewed. The Plasma blacks are famous for being deep and dark - and I would also concur with that theory, as well. The set displays Blu-Ray discs that are out of this world clear and crisp, and even SD viewing of ABC/NBC/etc all look so much better than they did on the Mitsu screen that the G10 replaced. My video games from my XBox look unbelievably clear, and I don't think that HD feeling will ever get old! The only 'downside' I could find is that the stock sound is less than stellar. I can't turn it up too loud or the stand actually makes a vibrating noise. Thankfully, I use my stereo for sound all the time anyway, and don't even bother with the set's stock sound anymore. I DO wish there was one or two more HDMI ports, as well. Overall, I can't speak highly enough about this unit. I keep telling my friends about it frequently, and those that have seen it in action watch with envy. Who says plasmas are dead? I sincerely hope Panasonic keeps putting out quality plasmas like the G10 for years to come!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning I was very concerned with glare and reflection, as the set is next to two large south facing windows, but this has not been a problem. The picture is fantastic. Colors pop and, of course, the blacks never go to mush. As my friend said when he saw the Olympic hockey game, "Oh. Wow."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Television I spent months researching televisions before I finally settled on the G10 54". It's been a pleasure to own. The picture quality is great, and even better with HD or BluRay. We have the TV in a very bright room, and we have no problems seeing the screen (I was concerned about this issue). I bought the TV at a substantial discount off retail, with white glove delivery, which I would recommend. No problems with heat (although we do live in NE). Electricity consumption is significant, at 700 watts. The only downside was that I haven't been able to remove some fingerprints left on the screen during delivery, but I can't see them when the TV is on. Good luck!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stop Shopping Readers, If you are reading this, I assume your in the market for a flat panel television. First, do yourself a favor and limit your selections to Plasmas. Plasmas has the Best Black. Try to play the same blue ray on a plasma & then do the same with a LCD. There is no comparison. The black scenes on a LCD looks like a glob of black. Can not see the details nor the levels of black. Next is realism. Plasmas reproduction looks more life like than LCD. Most displays in stores will show you a factory's DVD with flowers & waterfalls. but when you watch people, place & things moving together, the Plasma does this better. Also, When a entire LCD industry comes up with 120mhz, 240mhz, Motionflow, etc.... features, they did this to compete with the quality of the Plasma. The Plasma does not have these trailing images to deal with. Liquid vs. Lights, The liquid can not keep up the the quick action images. Past Concerns: (Burnt-ins, Temperature, Longevity) None of these are issues now. Burnt-in, Are you going to watch ESPN OR CNN all day? And I mean ALL DAY. if so then don't get this tv. Temperature, Same as LCD, ok, Maybe 3 degrees higher. I assume you have AC in your house, unless you plan to use this in the Barn. Not an issue, and actually may be a plus if you live up North. Longevity, Its rated @ 60,000 hours, so watch tv for 10 hours a day for 16.5 years. I think you will want a new tv by then. With all that said and Panasonic is the leader in Plasma, You will have no regrets with any of the G10 series. Great price & quality. I hope this helps.

  • I can access other Apps on my TV, but cannot access Netflix. How can I fix this?
    Symptoms:
    • When the Netflix app is selected, the Netflix splash screen appears, then Netflix closes and returns to the VIERA Cast home screen, Network Services screen, or HOME screen.
    • When the Netflix app is selected, "Unable to Connect to Netflix. Please Try Again Later" is displayed
    • Netflix can be accessed, but when a title is selected, "Unable to Play This Title Right Now. Please Try Again Later" is displayed.
    • Netflix can be accessed, a title can be selected, but during playback the picture blanks out, buffers, or freezes frequently.

    Additional Information:
    • Network applications on Panasonic products are only accessible on networks with high speed internet access.

    Suggested Solution:
    • Power the Netflix ready device on and allow at least 90 seconds for it to connect to the network before performing a Connection Test.
    • Once the Connection Test has passed, attempt to open the Netflix application. If the Netflix application fails to open, manually change the Primary DNS settings to 8.8.8.8 and the Secondary DNS to 8.8.4.4. If there is only one DNS setting available, change it to 8.8.8.8 (click here for a TV network troubleshooting tutorial.)
    • Once the DNS has been changed, perform another Connection Test.
    • Once the Connection Test has passed, attempt to open the Netflix application.
    • If none of your applications can be accessed, unplug the power cord of your modem or router for at least 10 seconds. This will reboot your modem or router.
    • If the Netflix application still fails to open, try another network application. If other applications function properly but Netflix does not click here for Netflix Help Center or call Netflix customer support at 1-866-716-0414.

  • The power light on the TV is on steady, but I do not have a picture, sound or both?
This could be caused by a few factors:

First check to ensure your TV is selected to the correct input (Source). If you are watching cable or satellite, following the cable from that device to the back of your TV.
If it is connected to antenna, HDMI 1/2/3, component or video you must also have the TV input select to match that connection. On the remote push the input button to check what source is selected on your TV.
Very important, you must ensure your cable box or satellite unit is turned on.
On some cable and satellite boxes, you may get audio with no picture if the box is turned off. If this does not resolve your issue, you may require service.
