TC-P50U50 is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm still going strong with my p50u50, bought in summer 2012. That's right, approaching 5 years of rock solid performance. I until recently used it as a display for a PC that was never asleep. I read on CNET around the time I bought it that many people were harming there TV's having the contrast at 100 because it essentially over clocked the board. I've ran my TV at 50 contrast until recently and I do believe this helped prolong my TV. Would highly reccomend, pretty sure this model is hard to find these days

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Purchase Ever I bought this television about 3 years ago. About two years after I purchased this television it stopped working. No picture, just a blinking code. I called Panasonic to inform them of the issue. They did pay for the replacement board for the TV, but I was out $200 for the labor. I wish that this was the end of my problems, but here I am again a year later with the same blinking code and no power. I called to inform Panasonic of the repeated problem, and was told that they were resolving the issue. Meaning they are working on making sure that the new TVs wont have this same problem. The individuals who currently own this model and others are out our hard earned money!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WORST PURCHASE EVER! Owned tv less than two years and it stopped working! It blinks 7 times non stop and never turns on. I did not buy the warranty so I'm stuck! I will not purchase anything else from Panasonic ever again!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Blinking light After about a year owning this tv it failed to turn on. Power light blinks, brought it in for service and found repair cost would exceed retail price for the tv.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth more than what I paid for! Love my big, beautiful tv. Connected to my game console and surround sound...when I show it off...makes all the boys jealous!!! hehehe!! Beautiful picture and sound so much better than all the others I saw for the same price or above. No problems or regrets, love it!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Plasma Ever Purchased on 26 JUNE 2012 now 27 OCT 2013 Plasma set died. I have the dreaded 8 blinks of death. Which through internet research i have some it is very common for these sets. I spent a good amount of money for this set for it to just die on.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Beware the blinking lights!! Good TV and we have a much older Panasonic Viera 42. Just 3 weeks past the 12 month warranty was up we suddenly got 8 blinking lights. From web searches, it appears to be a common problem with the power supply board.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Low Cost Plasma TV I bought this tv at a famous electronics store for my brother. When we both saw how great and amazing the picture looked I bought it for him. And at a low cost. Very good quality and craftsmanship. Pretty good features too. My brother has it at his house now for almost 6 months now, since early November 2012 and no problems at all. Picture looks as great as day one. I highly recommend this plasma tv. Go out and buy one!!!

  • I can access other Apps on my TV, but cannot access Netflix. How can I fix this?
    Symptoms:
    • When the Netflix app is selected, the Netflix splash screen appears, then Netflix closes and returns to the VIERA Cast home screen, Network Services screen, or HOME screen.
    • When the Netflix app is selected, "Unable to Connect to Netflix. Please Try Again Later" is displayed
    • Netflix can be accessed, but when a title is selected, "Unable to Play This Title Right Now. Please Try Again Later" is displayed.
    • Netflix can be accessed, a title can be selected, but during playback the picture blanks out, buffers, or freezes frequently.

    Additional Information:
    • Network applications on Panasonic products are only accessible on networks with high speed internet access.

    Suggested Solution:
    • Power the Netflix ready device on and allow at least 90 seconds for it to connect to the network before performing a Connection Test.
    • Once the Connection Test has passed, attempt to open the Netflix application. If the Netflix application fails to open, manually change the Primary DNS settings to 8.8.8.8 and the Secondary DNS to 8.8.4.4. If there is only one DNS setting available, change it to 8.8.8.8 (click here for a TV network troubleshooting tutorial.)
    • Once the DNS has been changed, perform another Connection Test.
    • Once the Connection Test has passed, attempt to open the Netflix application.
    • If none of your applications can be accessed, unplug the power cord of your modem or router for at least 10 seconds. This will reboot your modem or router.
    • If the Netflix application still fails to open, try another network application. If other applications function properly but Netflix does not click here for Netflix Help Center or call Netflix customer support at 1-866-716-0414.

  • The power light on the TV is on steady, but I do not have a picture, sound or both?
This could be caused by a few factors:

First check to ensure your TV is selected to the correct input (Source). If you are watching cable or satellite, following the cable from that device to the back of your TV.
If it is connected to antenna, HDMI 1/2/3, component or video you must also have the TV input select to match that connection. On the remote push the input button to check what source is selected on your TV.
Very important, you must ensure your cable box or satellite unit is turned on.
On some cable and satellite boxes, you may get audio with no picture if the box is turned off. If this does not resolve your issue, you may require service.
