Reviews

TC-P50U2 is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Value but Leaves me Wanting More This TV was a great price when I bought it 4 years ago and it really seems to have held its value. My biggest problem is the same thing another reviewer noted. Whether CATS is on or off, sometimes dark areas of the picture will suddenly lighten and then it will go back to dark. It does this quite often and it's very annoying as it takes you out of the movie experience. It is a nice size and easy to use but I wish it was a bit more clear. I've tweaked tons of settings but I'm never quite happy with the picture. It's good but I wish it was great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Value! This TV is a great package for the price. However, this TV is made for dark light rooms because it is highly reflective. The room I have it in now does get a bit of sunlight that is slightly noticeable and can get annoying. If the TV isnt customly formated for picture when watching Cable it may be blury so make sure to format properly. Also I would advise that you should get a seperate speaker system because the built in sound is not the best quality. Finally there are only 3 HDMI, 2 HD Component cables and one AV cable input so there is a lack of inputs. Despite these drawbacks the TV has a great size, picture quality (made for gaming and Blu-Ray), very easy to set up and adjust settings, and is a must buy for the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Contrast Flickering I dont know if I am the only one but i need to look at other plasma TVs BUT I am experiencing what looks like a flicker in the contrast while viewing any kind of media. You can see the screen lighten then darken, my CATS is currently shut off and its doing it in every mode. Bang for the buck is great but I feel this should be looked into.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great deal Great deal. only problem is it does not have a anti-glare finish on the screen so in my sunny room it reflects images. Get the TC-P50S2 if you are concerned about glare. Little fuzzy when you are with in 2-4 ft of the screen

FAQs
  • What should I do if my TV will not turn on and the power indicator LED is not flashing?
    Follow these troubleshooting steps:
    • Make sure your TV's power cord is plugged into an electrical outlet.
    • Make sure the electrical outlet the TV is plugged into has power by testing known working device in that outlet.
    • After verifying the TV is plugged into a working outlet, try pressing the [POWER] button on the TV instead of the TV remote.
If the outlet is working and the TV will not turn on after pressing the [POWER] button on the TV, please consider having the unit serviced. Click here for Panasonic Service Locator.
  • What should I do if the front Power indicator LED light is blinking?
    1. Unplug the TV's power cord.
    2. Unplug all cables.
    3. Power the TV using a different power outlet (do not use a power strip or surge protector).

If the problem persists, consider having the TV serviced. Click here for Panasonic Service Locator.

Note: Count how many times the LED light blinks. This can help a technician troubleshoot the problem.
  • What should I do if I get audio but no picture from an external device connected to my TV?
    • Try unplugging the cable between the TV and the external device and reconnecting it firmly on both sides.
    • Try unplugging the power cord of the external device for 30 seconds.
    • Try connecting another external device to the same input using the same cable.
    • If the picture returns on the second device, you may need to contact the manufacturer of the first external device you had connected for further troubleshooting.
    • Try using a different cable between your device and the TV using the same input of your TV. If you get a picture and audio, you may need to replace your cable.
    • Try another input of the TV to verify if there is an issue with the TV input the external device was connected to.
  • What should I do if I have bars displaying on the TV screen?
Change the format (aspect ratio) of the picture by pressing the [FORMAT] or [ASPECT] button on the TV's remote control. If you still have bars, check the aspect settings on your external video source, such as Cable/Satellite box, DVD/Blu-ray Disc player, etc. Note: Some content, such as film-based movies, are available in extra-wide format. Top and bottom bars are unavoidable.
