Reviews

TC-P42U1 is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from First review I have ever written I at first bought a 50" Viera for the "entertainment" room. I was so impressed with the TV I went back to the store and bought 4 more sets. Three 42" plasma 1080P's, and a 37" 1080. These are undoubtedly the best priced and finest quality TV's on the market at this time. Three of these sets are at a lake home (for rainy days, and grandchildren). I am very pleased with the ease of setup and the support from the web site. And of course I am still learning all of the functions of the sets. The 50" is hooked to a gaming device that allows web access and is incredible. We love them. Sharp pictures, good sound from the onboard speakers and the timers are great for shut off time and also alarm time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from hmmmm.. I love the t.v. and the camera reader, I just would have liked it if Best Buy had told us they had the 52" (0r 50").. It's so nice, I don't even need to hook it up to HDTV although I probably will just to see how much better it can be.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Viera Plasma #1 I have reviewed several and owned 3 LCD TV's and I have to say the quality of picture and sound of this TV is by far the best I have evr experienceds first hand. Set up was a bit of a pain as the owners manual wasn't well written or compiled to be easily read, but once one gets past that the wait of setting up is worth it. I definately recommend this TV to anyone looking to buy their first flat screen TV or upgrade their LCD to plasma. Can't go wrong for the money spent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blew Me Away Just picked up this beauty and can't believe the quality of the picture. I had a LCD and thought it was pretty good but after seeing the picture on this one it blew me away. For the price you just can't beat this TV.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good for the money! This is a very solid HDTV that gives an outstanding image (beautiful colors, even in 720 dpi), much better than the LCDs flat screens I've seen so far. The menu is very simple, though. For this price, this is a very high quality set. I recommend it!

FAQs
  • What should I do if my TV will not turn on and the power indicator LED is not flashing?
    Follow these troubleshooting steps:
    • Make sure your TV's power cord is plugged into an electrical outlet.
    • Make sure the electrical outlet the TV is plugged into has power by testing known working device in that outlet.
    • After verifying the TV is plugged into a working outlet, try pressing the [POWER] button on the TV instead of the TV remote.
If the outlet is working and the TV will not turn on after pressing the [POWER] button on the TV, please consider having the unit serviced. Click here for Panasonic Service Locator.
  • What should I do if the front Power indicator LED light is blinking?
    1. Unplug the TV's power cord.
    2. Unplug all cables.
    3. Power the TV using a different power outlet (do not use a power strip or surge protector).

If the problem persists, consider having the TV serviced. Click here for Panasonic Service Locator.

Note: Count how many times the LED light blinks. This can help a technician troubleshoot the problem.
  • What should I do if I get audio but no picture from an external device connected to my TV?
    • Try unplugging the cable between the TV and the external device and reconnecting it firmly on both sides.
    • Try unplugging the power cord of the external device for 30 seconds.
    • Try connecting another external device to the same input using the same cable.
    • If the picture returns on the second device, you may need to contact the manufacturer of the first external device you had connected for further troubleshooting.
    • Try using a different cable between your device and the TV using the same input of your TV. If you get a picture and audio, you may need to replace your cable.
    • Try another input of the TV to verify if there is an issue with the TV input the external device was connected to.
  • What should I do if I have bars displaying on the TV screen?
Change the format (aspect ratio) of the picture by pressing the [FORMAT] or [ASPECT] button on the TV's remote control. If you still have bars, check the aspect settings on your external video source, such as Cable/Satellite box, DVD/Blu-ray Disc player, etc. Note: Some content, such as film-based movies, are available in extra-wide format. Top and bottom bars are unavoidable.
