TC-39AS530U is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from OK, but not good viewing angle We havebeen satisfied withtthe performance of the AS 530, 39 inch, however, the viewing angle is not good. Since we view it in the bedroom it is usually not a problem as long as you are in front of the TV

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glad I made this purchase I did a lot of research before buying this product. We had limitations on what TV's are available because our armoire is only 36" wide and unfortunately not wide enough for any of the 40" class TV's. I picked this TV over the LG 39" because of the features and because it is a true 120Hz TV. I was intrigued by the ability to control the TV using an iOS device. Although using some of the features using the regular TV remote is cumbersome, using the iPhone makes it sooooo easy! It is one of the coolest features I've ever used. The picture is very good, the picture controls are robust, the built in apps are great. (Love the youtube and pandora apps) I am impressed with this TV.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice TV This TV has a great picture and was simple to set up. Great value for the $$$. The only disappointment was the inability to download the Amazon Instant Video App.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A shot in the dark I finally took the big move from my 20 year old Sony Triniton to a flat screen TV. I had heard all about the fight to be the best among LG, Samsung, Sony...but being who I am, I had to be different. Here is a unit of which no reviews are written (at the time of this writing), from a brand I seem to keep happily coming back to time and again - Panasonic. Now I don't review TVs, and I have no frame of reference, but here is my experience moving from one of the best CRT ever made, to the flat screen: The unboxing: This thing is light weight (CRTs are HEAVY!!), very thin, and easy to set up. It literally took more time to unpackage than screw to the stand and plug in. My only beef is the stand has such low clearance, you will need to put the unit on a riser if you plan on using a sound bar, unless you mount it to the wall (if you plan on doing that, you are probably going bigger anyway...) The Setup: Turn it on, log into your home wifi, and you are off and running. My Macintosh computer only wishes it could be that simple. The interface is fun to use, and takes a short time to master and get used to. I could control every feature with my iOS device, and I am stunned. In some ways it was like having a wireless external monitor for a handheld device. Surf youtube on an iPhone/iPod, play the movie, hit link to TV, and suddenly you are watching it large screen! Image quality: Now remember, I am moving from a Sony Triniton CRT, so I am not used to his HD flat screen thing yet, and I have no basis for comparison. But the first thing that struck me awed was detail and refresh rate. It was literally like watching something live out a window, no motion blur/ghosting, crisp bright image that stays that way with camera and subject movement. After the novelty of this wore off I did begin to notice that all this detail on a flat screen did come at a cost of color richness. I have been told you need to spend big bucks and go higher end to experience the richness you are used to seeing on a high end CRT, so I accept the compromise. This unit cost a quarter of what I would haved needed to spend to reach the color range of my CRT. Sound Quality: it has a digital optical output. Yeah it has its own speakers, but seriously, it's HD, you are gonna spend as much or more for the sound system, because that is more than half the fun! (Yup, it has the Pandora app, and you can plug in a media device via one of its two HDMI, play your own music/movie/slideshow collection). The interface: I am not a connoisseur of device interfaces, but I like this one. It has the multiple desktop parade across the screen for different home screen views, lots of downloadable content for customizing the look, and of course, the Netflix button. I go back and forth between the remote and the iPhone app, they both have their pros and cons. But I love the fact you can link your handheld device to the TV, because apps can be improved, and with it the ever improving relationship they will have with the Smart TV. And as far as gaming goes, apparently it's awesome, because my teenage son is constantly hooking into the HDMI with his laptop to play games. Just keep in mind, few laptops can take advantage of it's 120hz refresh rate, so playing games won't be like watching Blu-Ray, yet... In conclusion, I am very pleased with this purchase and am looking forward to enjoying it for years to come, as I honestly feel I bought a level of cutting edge technology that won't become obsolete in six months.

FAQs
  • What should I do if my TV will not turn on and the power indicator LED is not flashing?
    Follow these troubleshooting steps:
    • Make sure your TV's power cord is plugged into an electrical outlet.
    • Make sure the electrical outlet the TV is plugged into has power by testing known working device in that outlet.
    • After verifying the TV is plugged into a working outlet, try pressing the [POWER] button on the TV instead of the TV remote.
If the outlet is working and the TV will not turn on after pressing the [POWER] button on the TV, please consider having the unit serviced. Click here for Panasonic Service Locator.
  • What should I do if the front Power indicator LED light is blinking?
    1. Unplug the TV's power cord.
    2. Unplug all cables.
    3. Power the TV using a different power outlet (do not use a power strip or surge protector).

If the problem persists, please consider having the TV serviced. Click here for Panasonic Service Locator.

Note: Count how many times the LED light blinks. This can help a technician troubleshoot the problem.
  • What should I do if I can access all of the TV apps except Netflix?
    1. Change the DNS setting of your TV to 8.8.8.8.
    2. If you are able to access the Netflix splash screen, use the TV remote to deactivate your account by pressing Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Up, Up, Up, Up. After this process, try loggin back into the Netflix TV app.

If the procedure is successful a screen will come up with the option to deactivate your device from your account. If not try the process again. Once you have successfully deactivated your device, you will need to activate it by opening Netflix and at the main screen selecting Member Sign In, then following the on screen prompts until activation is complete.

If the Netflix app still fails to open, but all of the other TV apps work, visit help.netflix.com for more support.

  • What should I do if I have bars displaying on the TV screen?
Change the format (aspect ratio) of the picture by pressing the [FORMAT] or [ASPECT] button on the TV's remote control. If you still have bars, check the aspect settings on your external video source, such as Cable/Satellite box, DVD/Blu-ray Disc player, etc. Note: Some content, such as film-based movies, are available in extra-wide format. Top and bottom bars are unavoidable.
