SC-BT230 is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Live chat I sat on my computer for over 30 minutes waiting for "Live Chat" they never came back. I have a room full of equipment that I don't know how to use. I think I'll take it back to the store and try something else. I wanted to know what headset to purchase so I could watch TV late at night without disturbing my wife.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another purchasing dilemma I wanted a five dsic DVD/Blu-ray player, again I turned to Panasonic. I didn't see one that was within my budget so I scaled down to one disc drive. I found this at one of favorite retailers and since I had tow working for I trust Panasonic and I trusted my salesperson (we worked togather on a previous TV purchase). It was easy to install even though I had to run extra wire. I wasn't expecting what I got. A full sound throughout my enitre condo. walls vibrating, crisp clear sound effect, and a subwoofer that runs me out of my living room. I soon forgot that it wasn't a five disc changer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Panasonic! Stop and resume function! Everything about this unit is nice, except no stop and resume function. We have Panasonic TVs (plural), we like Panasonic, but why no stop, open tray or power off and resume on the players?. It costs nothing to do, and who wants to go through trailers, menus, and chapters just to get back to where you interrupted play? I hope Panasonic marketing reads these reviews, and takes appropriate action to incorporate this feature into your otherwise fine products. Many other manufacturers do. I have checked recommend to a friend, but with the caveat that the above-noted function/feature is not included.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Blu-Ray Home Theater I purchased an SC-BT230 to upgrade from my current SC-BT100 (purchased in 2008). I upgraded mainly for the wireless connectivity (VieraCast) features, specifically Netflix streaming. Overall, I am highly pleased. While I gave up 250 watts of total power vs. the BT100, the sound in my living room is excellent. The additional optical input also enabled me to hook up my PS3 with full surround sound vs. the analog connection I had to use on the BT100. My one disappointment: the Netflix interface. While my PS3 has almost a full Netflix interface (Search, Genres, Recommendations based on past viewings, etc), the interface on the SC-BT230 is only have access to your Instant Queue, which means to search or add titles to view, you must use another device (PS3, PC, etc) to add a title to your queue, then and only then can you watch it on the SC-BT230. Frankly, the Netflix interface on my Ipod Touch is better than the interface on the SC-BT230. Hopefully, the Netflix interface can and will be upgraded via a future firmware update.....but I have read unsubstantiated rumors online that the 2010 models HTIB's like the SC-BT230 are not capable of having a better Netflix interface. Hopefully, that is not true. Other than that one issue, I am totally satisfied and would highly recommend the SC-BT230 to someone looking for an all-in-one Blu Ray Home Theater. Panasonic Rocks!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice addition to family room I have a five year old plasma that has good surround sound, but wanted true surround system. This unit has the true surround, but has many more features that go beyond a sound system. The DVD play works conveniently. The network options are really the kicker as far as difference makers. It is nice to use Pandora and You Tube freely, and plan to get a Netflix account again, but for streaming. Set up was easy, except for having to run speaker wires to four speakers - 3 were wired from my crawl space... but all good. I am still on a learning curve with some of the tweaks of getting preferences the way I want them. This system is a great value and i would recommend it based on that alone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Value This system is an exceptional value. It has clear sound, a very clear picture, and a bunch of internet amenities like Pandora, YouTube, the weather, Bloomberg, etc. It was easy to set, particularly since you don't have to be a tecchie to understand the instruction. Thirty minutes after opening the shipping carton, I was playing it. And best of all the remote speakers are tiny (about the size of a beer can) but have enough power to be heard well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great sound. Services not quite there yet. I received this item about 6 days ago. I absolutely love the sound. Watched some of Star Wars Episode III and the sound is incredible. Just like being in the theater. However, one of the reasons I purchased this item is that Panasonic's website lists it as having Pandora. This is not true as of the time I am writing this review. I wrote Panasonic about this and was told that there is no exact date yet when Pandora will be online. Also, for those of you interested in the twitter that it supposedly comes with. No twitter either. As for the youtube, that's pretty cool. Netflix is sort of lame, as you only get access to the instant queue and no recommendations. We have a PS3 with Netflix and the Netflix service on that seems to be more advanced. Also, on Panasonic's website, it lists this model as having a 3.5 mm jack so you can use your MP3 player. Not true. The back of the unit has a composite audio in. Which I wasn't that upset about since I have a converter but still... As for the ARC, you need an ARC supported TV for it to actually carry sound from the TV to the unit via an HDMI cable (this is listed on Panasonic's website). I didn't realize that when I bought it so now I have to get an optical cable. Not a huge loss. I did consider returning the unit based on the above but am so pleased with the sound, however, that I am keeping it.

  • What do I do in the unit has no power?
If the unit is not powering on, remove the power cord plug from any power strip it may be connected to and plug directly into the wall outlet.
  • How do I connect a Panasonic home theater system to my TV?
Panasonic recommends that you use an HDMI cable to connect the HDMI output of your Blu-ray disc player to the HDMI input on your TV. Then place your TV on the correct HDMI input using your TV remote control.
  • What should I do if I am not getting any sound from the center or the right speaker?
    Center Speaker
Check the speaker wire connection on the back of the unit. Unplug the speaker wire from the back of the unit, and then reinsert it into the center speaker slot on the back of the unit. Next, go to the unit's audio settings and perform a speaker test. If you are using a stereo channel source or the unit has no center channel encoded, turn on the "Super Surround" option.

    Right Speaker
The right speaker of the center channel is a "Super Tweeter" it along with the full range speaker produce a more natural sound even though you may not hear audio coming from the super tweeter. Super tweeters produce high frequencies which may not be heard at all times.
  • How do I use the ARC feature with my home theater system?
ARC is an abbreviation for Audio Return Channel. To use this feature the HDMI cable you are using must be compliant to HDMI v1.3 spec or later. Older cables may not work correctly.

VIERA Link can work with either the HDMI- ARC feature of a compatible TV.
For ARC usage make sure that the systems HDMI ARC port is connected to the TVs ARC port.

    1. Press [HOME].
    2. Select "Others" icon and press [OK].
    3. Select "Setup" and press [OK].
    4. Select "Audio" and press [OK].
    5. Select "TV Audio Input" and press [OK]. Then select the "ARC" option.

Afterwards the TV's ARC feature will control the home theater system and the sound from the TV will be heard through the systems speakers.
