NN-SN797S is rated 2.3 out of 5 by 55.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Door latch problem After 3 years of use, the door died just like others described. It's closed firmly, but the sensor doesn't think so. The microwave won't run until sensor agrees. It's a nice looking microwave and features are great too. But with the problem of door latch, it's completely useless now.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Will not buy another Panosonic Microwave Oven I bought this oven from Costco 3 years ago and it just died yesterday with H98. I did some research to found that it needs to replace the Magnetron. My old one last over 10 years and this Panasonic has such short life and I don't want to go through all of the repair trouble. I also found a lot of bad reviews on Panasonic Microwave oven. Panasonic should build a better one and Costco should stop selling bad products.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Long Lasting Had this microwave for 8 years.. worked Fantastic. It finally, after 8 years, started to give trouble when the door, even though closed, wouldn't trip the sensor that lets the microwave know it was closed. So....... open the door and close it more firmly. And its good. SO I CAN GUARANTEE AT LEAST 8 YEARS NO PROBLEMS!! EXCELLENT MICROWAVE. Get one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Works great! Love this microwave more then any I've previously owned! I've had it for a several years now and it's still going strong! I especially love the defrosting feature and side dish sensors. No more signs of cooking on the tips of things being defrosted and if you cook 5 potatoes.. they are COOKED to perfection. It's just great. I'm currently trying to find my son one just like it.. .not having any luck.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Latch Design After two years the door latch stopped functioning. The sheet metal that the door latch mechanism is attached to is very flimsy. Over time the latch will get out of alignment and stop functioning. I was fortunate that I brought this item at Costco and was able to return it two years later.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor quality We purchased the microwave from Costco about 2 years ago. Within a year, the power on the microwave did not consistently work - for example, the same brand of popcorn on one day might take 5+ minutes to pop and on another day, 3 minutes. Now for the last 6 months the door sticks as other people have complained of. If the door latch doesn't work, neither does the microwave. I am happy to see that someone said after 6 years Costco gave them their money back. I may try the same. Now, I just need to find another microwave, not sure that it will be another Panasonic.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great performance until door latch/interlock fails After my 20+ year old Panasonic failed, I zoomed out to buy another. As many other have mentioned, door latch/interlock disabled oven operation after 2.5 years. Investigation revealed that the sheet metal latch and switch bracket had bent and plastic parts had worn. I've experienced excellent performance on all Panasonic products until this one. Now I am skeptical of the brand. Sad.

  • What should I check if my microwave stops working?

Check the fuse/circuit breaker for the outlet to see if it has been tripped or blown. Check other outlets to see if there is a GFI (Ground Fault Interrupt) outlet that is on the same circuit as the outlet used for the unit and see if it needs to be reset. Connect the oven to another outlet to see if unit is still operational. If the unit is still not working, please contact a local authorized servicer for diagnosis and repair.
