Inverter Technology

Panasonic Inverter Technology perfects the art of cooking with microwave ovens, delivering delicious flavor, excellent color, and superb shape and texture in the foods you cook. The consistent delivery of microwave energy means delicate foods can simmer without the edges and surfaces overcooking. Foods have the look and taste you expect without the wait! Learn More

Convection Cooking Inverter

The convection oven setting performs like a full-size oven, delivering benefits such as more even browning for baking cakes and pies, and faster roasting of poultry and meats, which seals in juices and prevents drying out.

Turbo Defrost Adds a Little Cooking Boost

Panasonic has succeeded in evolving Turbo Defrost, which allows you to defrost foods even faster than previous Panasonic Auto Defrost. Panasonic Inverter Turbo Defrost technology is an advanced microwave sequencing system using the Inverter low-power delivery feature.

Our Keep Warm and Simmer Feature Helps You Keep Food Warm Until You're Ready to Eat

A pulsing delivery of very low microwave power keeps food temperature at a constant level-without overcooking. Food like stew, gravy and desserts remain warm in the oven until you are ready to serve.

Reheating and Cooking Made Simple

With one touch of a single key, the Genius Sensor adjusts power levels and calculates cooking time automatically for various foods.

Multi-Lingual Menu Action Screen

The Menu Action Screen is like having a gourmet chef to assist you in the kitchen. It scrolls step-by-step cooking instructions across the display in a choice of English, Spanish, or French. Our Function Key simplifies the programming of 10 useful, non-cooking functions. Just press the Function Key and the Menu Action Screen will display easy-to-follow steps to complete the desired function.

Clean and Smudge-Free Cabinet Finish

The Stainless Fingerprint Resistant finish on the front of our Genius Prestige Microwave ovens helps reduce the amount of unsightly smudging normally found on stainless appliances. So your microwave will look its best even when you are preparing some of your messiest recipes.

Easy Settings

The dual-dial button panel makes selecting your desired settings a simple task. You can choose convection only, microwave only or combination cooking.

Make More Room on Your Countertop

The Prestige Countertop Microwave Oven can also be installed in the wall using an optional matching trim kit accessory.

NN-C994S is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A++ AMAZINIGLY FANTASTIC! The Panasonic NN-C994S convection microwave is absolutely FABULOUS! We give it FOUR thumbs up (me and my girlfriend)! I give it 9.5 stars out of 10 (and I am extremely difficult to impress)! Even though it can be considered expensive, it is worth every penny, and the price is very well justified. I absolutely LOVE my Panasonic NN-C994S, so much that I am buying a SECOND unit TODAY so I can use two NN-C994S convection microwaves at the same time. I have been using my Panasonic NN-C994S on a daily basis for about a year, and it performed flawlessly and completely reliably since the first day I owned it. We know the NN-C994S is a true work-horse and a dream come true, because we cook all the food we need at home with the NN-C994S, since I can only eat food that is extremely low fat, low sodium, and preservative free due to some medical conditions. The NN-C994S bakes, broils (including on a grill in the oven), steams (with a steamer container and some water), sensor reheats, sensor defrosts, sensor cooks, boils pasta, boils potatoes, and keeps food warm like a professional; and with great ease. It expertly uses radiated heat, microwave energy, and even cooks with BOTH radiated heat AND microwave energy AT THE SAME TIME for very reliably excellent results. I use the super-versatile NN-C994S to very succesfully cook: * Chinese food; Japanese food; Mexican food including home made enchiladas, burritos, tacos, tostadas, nachos, fajitas, and more; Italian food including every kind of pasta, tomato based sauces, Alfredo and more; bar-b-q (when used with Liquid Smoke the NN-C994S makes tender, juicy meat that tastes 90% like it was cooked on a bar-b-que grill); hot wings; baked items including home-made fresh bread, home made fresh fruit pies, cakes, muffins and more; breakfast items including omelets, breakfast potatoes, scrambled eggs, hashed browns, and more; vegetables including baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, fresh cut french fries, green beans, frozen vegetable mixes, fresh corn on the cob, canned corn, canned baby corn, canned sauerkraut, fresh snow peas, water chestnuts, and more; every type of meat except fish (I don't like fish) including whole chickens, chicken breasts, chicken thighs, chicken legs, chicken wings, turkey breasts, pork steaks, beef steaks; and so, so much more! It expertly cooks everything and anything I could think of. If you have any kind of food that needs cooking, the NN-C994S will do it for you quite well. NOTHING compares to the NN-C994S for cooking meat! It cooks meat to PERFECTION EVERY time! The meat comes out VERY EVENLY cooked and uncommonly JUICY - even pork chops, turkey breasts, and WHOLE chickens! If you combine the NN-C994S with the very excellent silicone bake-wear from Orka (also known as Mastrad, found at http://www.mastrad.us/), you can say goodbye forever to adding oils, butter, and margarine to keep food from sticking to the item it is cooked in. Completely forgo that additional cholesterol and fat to extend and improve your life without sacrificing the foods you love. The controls are extremely well designed, and exhibit a definitively Japanese functional style. Unlike American style controls that need many button presses and setting made to perform most functions, the NN-C994S controls are elegantly efficient and simple. Most operations used need only take between 1 to 3 button presses (including the "Start" button). The pair of knob controls are a truly genius design that makes using the NN-C994S simple, easy, quick, and efficient. They are both sensitive to the speed used to turn them, and behave differently when turned slow compared to when they are turned quickly. When adjusting a numeric value like time, turn the bottom knob slowly to make small adjustments (like adding only 10 or 20 seconds to cooking time), or turn the bottom knob quickly to make large adjustments (like changing cooking time from 40 seconds to 90 minutes). The smallest amount that cooking time can be adjusted by is 10 seconds; so turning the bottom dial clockwise to increase cooking time will change the amount of time in steps of 10 seconds, not 1 second. Therefore, you can enter cooking times like 10 seconds, 20 seconds, 30 seconds, 40 seconds, 50 seconds; NOT like 2 seconds, 8 seconds, 13 seconds, 25 seconds, or 59 seconds. Some people may complain that the smallest amount cooking time can be changed by is 10 seconds; yet, when have you NEEDED to change cooking time with a precision better than 10 seconds? Will it REALLY make any difference if an item is cooked for 1 minute and 4 seconds instead of 1 minute and 0 seconds? The "Keep Warm" function keeps food warm for up to 30 minutes without drying it out. Providing that steam is allowed to escape from the food to the oven's sensor, the sensor reheating function is remarkably accurate and amazing. Using it is just 2 button presses in total, with no need to enter cooking time nor temperature. The food comes out at exactly to correct temperature: not too cool and not too hot 98% of the time. The NN-C994S convection microwave operation manual is well written, concise, and comprehensive despite some very minor grammar mistakes that likely were the result of translating the original document from Japanese to English. Considering that it is terribly difficult to correctly translate Japanese to English, Panasonic did a very good job on the manual. PLEASE do read the manual; it is a quick read that is very well worth the effort. It will help you very much to get the absolute most functionality and quality from the NN-C994S. A couple items to note: * The NN-C994S depends on a combination of measuring heat and steam for controlling cooking time. If the food is completely covered (like with a microwave splatter cover) and a sensor heating function is used, the NN-C994S can cook the food for the wrong amount of time. If you want to keep the inside of your NN-C994S clean while still using the sensor heating functions, you can easily and successfully do so by covering the food with an upside-down silicone colander (like this excellent unit at http://www.mastrad.us/produits-list.php?fam=prepa&isfam=0&cat=pavap) while the food is cooking/heating. The silicone colander will allow the steam to escape and reach the oven's sensor while keeping the cooking mess inside the oven well confined to the turntable. Using a silicone colander enables containing cooking messes in temperatures from zero degrees Fahrenheit to 450 degrees Fahrenheit (which is the full heat range of this capable oven). * It seems the NN-C994S was designed for use at sea level, so if you use it at high altitude like I do, you will need to slightly change the weight you enter for the TurboDefrost and Popcorn functions, compared to the actual weight of the item. It is not a big deal, and the TurboDefrost and Popcorn functions still work very well at high altitude. I am betting the TurboDefrost and Popcorn functions work perfectly at sea level without any adjustment. * Because this oven cooks with both radiated heat and microwave energy IN THE SAME OVEN CAVITY, some attention to detail is necessary when using the oven. Be sure to first remove any cookware that can not tolerate up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit before using radiated heat. Be sure to first remove any cookware that is made of metal, or is NOT made of silicone, metal-free ceramic, or glass bake-ware before using microwave energy, or heating methods that combine both radiated heat with microwave energy. The NN-C994S is fully compatible with all microwave cook-wear, provided that microwave-only cookware is removed before using radiated heat. * I was NOT paid to write this review (though they should pay me for it). I wrote the review because I think anyone who is serious about cooking could hugely benefit from owning and using a NN-C994S; and, I hope that more people buying a NN-C994S will keep the NN-C994S being manufactured, and keep replacement parts being made (since no machine of any kind lasts forever without needing repair at some time, and I would like to keep my pair of NN-C994S functioning for a very, very, very long time) (my NN-C994S is in perfect working condition, and never needed any repair nor any maintenance). I do not work for Panasonic, nor anyone associated with Panasonic in any way. I do not own any Panasonic stock. I do not know anyone who works for Panasonic.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Expensive, but worth it. The ceramic tray is a problem. I have tried everything that is on the market to clean it with no success. If anyone has the secret I would appreciate knowing. Otherwise, I really like this product - even though it is expensive, the convection feature makes it worth it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from buyer beware this is a piece of junk microwave. it will only work for a while and then make you have to buy another one. Do Not buy is my recommendation, don't make the same mistake unless you don't mind buying one every 3 years!!!!!!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best microwave on the market I first purchased this microwave/convection oven about 3 years ago and was totally happy. I sold my home and am now rebuilding and - guess what - I purchased the same microwave for my new home. I have a motor home with a competitor product and I am not happy with it at all. It is hard to clean the interior and difficult to use. Panasonic Genius is the very best.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of my Best Purchases My last Panasonic Microwave lasted 24 years and was still working fine when I purchased this unit. This unit has many upgraded features and has exceeded my cooking expectations. I have had this unit for about one year and it is used constantly throughout the day and evening.

  • Is it normal for a new (Out of the Box) Panasonic Microwave/Convection oven door to be a little difficult to open ?
It is normal for the microwave/convection oven door to be a little difficult to open the first time because of a cardboard spacer placed between the door and the control panel. Press the microwave's Door Release Button, then gently pull the door until it opens. Finally, remove the cardboard insert that kept the door secure during shipment.

So when you set 50% power, for example, you actually get a steady stream of 50% power for the entire cooking time. The result is more evenly cooked food, defrosting without cooked edges, and even the ability to keep foods warm until mealtime.
