Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not happy with my (3) vacuums I bought (3) of these to use and keep on each floor of my house. I was tired of dragging (1) vacuum up and downs stairs. I had to have (2) of these vacuums serviced in less than a year because the suction was completely gone. I was told they each had a cracked housing. How could I get a cracked housing from normal use? Some of the problems were not covered under Panasonic's warranty. The repair shop told me Panasonic's warranty doesn't cover all repairs. My repairs were not from abuse or neglect. Just frequent use. Obviously they lack durability. One day they just started to make a loud grinding noise and didn't pick up well. We have a very hairy German Shepherd and I vacuum a lot. It seems that these vacuums are not as durable as the cheaper Panasonic models I have owned in the past. I also don't like how the brush "spits" crumbs and dirt around if I leave the agitator spinning on bare floors. I do this because the vacuum does not pick up stuff well on bare floors with the agitator turned off. Especially our dog's hair. My German Shepherd's hair would just build up in the agitator instead of being sucked up. When I would turn on the agitator the hair would then blow on the floor or come out on the rug where I would have to vacuum it up again. These vacuums are a pain. I would not recommend this model. I always used Panasonic vacuums but this purchase has left me doubting their quality. I may try a UG775 one day to replace one of my current vacuums. I hope my faith will be restored. I use to tell people to buy Panasonic Vacuums. Not anymore....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pocket rocket This vacuum is the best bang for the buck.It has extreme power for carpet and tools.I have this vacuum as well as the ug775.I bought this one before the other one.Yes I love panansonic.I believe that a lot of people have problems with the belt because thay arent turning the motor off before thay change settings.It says in the manual to do so.This ug589 has a simpler floor switch than the ug775.If you dont turn the motor off it is a little hard on the belt.But follow the manual and its just fine.This vacuum is light weight,compact and does an extremely good job at cleaning the carpet.Its quit and has hepa filtration.Very recommended!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sad............ Purchased back in October and I have replaced 14 belts. My wife has had enough she is back cleaning with our 15 year old Panasonic Vacuum. Quality sure has changed over the past few years and we the customer are to blame, demanding lower prices on what we buy and still expect "Lexus Quality."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best vacum ever owned this vacum has lots of suction it moves like i'ts self propelleled. the hepa filta bag keeps the bag bin spot less. metal parts handle , beater bar, and cover foot switch .vacume has long cord this vacuum picks up every thing . great looking and compact . panasonic vacuums last along time. this vacume does the same as friend's $1500.00 vacuum

Rated 1 out of 5 by from JUNKIEST VACCUUM EVER!! I would not recommend this vaccuum to anyone who ever needs to vaccuum. I have to change the belt every weak It overheats and I am completely dissatisfied with this vaccuum. DO NOT BUY THIS!

  • Why is there no more suction from my vacuum?
    Check the following:
    1. Ensure that the dust bin is not clogged or full. If so clear the clogged area or empty the bin.
    2. Check the hose for damage or holes. Replace the hose if needed.
    3. Ensure that the hose is inserted fully.
    4. Ensure that the filters are clean.
  • Why did my agitator brush stop spinning in my vacuum?
    Ensure that the belt is not broken. If the belt is broken, replace it. If the belt is not broken and is installed correctly, the vacuum would require servicing. You can locate the closest service center by clicking here.
  • Why does the vacuum become extremely hot and shut off after five minutes?
    1. Ensure that there are no clogged areas
    2. Change the filter
    3. Check the hose.
