Rated 5 out of 5 by from better than the one it replaced I wore out the keys of a KX-TG6542 in about 2 1/2 years, which is typical because I use these phones several times a day and I have a heavy hand and heavy fingers. This newer replacement/upgrade not only has bigger keys but an increased capacity for the Call Block feature where the KX-TG6542 had a capacity to block only 30 numbers. The phonebook of this upgraded model also has increased capacity over its predecessor. The Speed Dial feature has also returned to the newer unit as I missed it from its predecessor. The noise reduction works well. The back-up operation is a worthwile feature and the display and call announcements work well. I sent my older unit, (base and both handsets), back for repair/exchange as it will be a good spare when the keyboards wear out on these handsets in 2 1/2 years. I've used many different Panasonic cordless units over the years with keyboard dialability and speakerphone capability on the base unit as well as the handsets and I like the versatility of being able to hold a conversation on speakerphone or use the handset as well as for dialing numbers. They may not be the cheapest but they are good value for the money.-JONNY 1 NYC

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Transaction I can't remember when I was so happy with the purchase of a product as I am with the purchase of this 6843 cordless phone/answering system from the Panasonic website. As a former Product Manager, I appreciate all phases of the product delivery cycle. As examples, for one thing, the price was 25% less than I could get it elsewhere. I had narrowed my choices down to two models, but had some questions. My questions were quickly answered during online chat sessions which I thought were very complete and professional. Even though the product shipped with free shipping, I got it at my front door two days after I ordered it! As I opened the box, I was amazed at the packaging. Not only the box design, but how all the items were arranged and packed in the box. I even photographed the way it was packed in case I had to return it. I easily put everything together and set up the options I wanted. This was very easy due to the excellent Users Guide that came with the product. The instructions were very clear and easy to understand. English was obviously the native language of the writers of the Users Guide. After programming several options, I had found no mistakes. And finally, the product itselt. I find it to be very attractive and it has all the functionality, and more, I was looking for. The audible caller id often screws up the pronunciation of some names. The caller id usually comes over as last name, first name. But if you put a caller's name and phone number in the directory, the audible caller id will announce the name you put in the Directory instead of the caller id sent over by the phone company. This way, it can announce the first name only, or even a nickname. Also, each handset can retrieve messages and each handset can have its own ring volume. Each handset displays the date, time, and battery status, as well as its primary resting place that you can program in. And, you can set individual alarms independently on each handset. The numbers and letters on the display and keys are large and easy to read. You have a remote access code you can set as well as "toll saver". I could go on, but suffice it to say that I was extremely impressed with the quality, professionalism, and throughness of every phase of my purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does not work for call screening. When it is set for call screening it answers and plays back the caller's voice. When a handset is used to answer the call it still receives the voice from the caller but does not transmit the answerers voice back to the caller. The message recording stops when attempting to answer the call. It works as a message recording device but is useless as a call screening device.
