Rated 5 out of 5 by from electronic dialing the beep sent to remote automatic answering machines is very short and is not recognized by some devices. We had to keep an old analog phone for just that reason. It would be very nice it that could be made longer. Also, it could use a larger phone book and call block list. However, given the trouble that I had even finding this site, I suspect that this product is no longer being sold.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These Phones Are Awesome We are just amazed at the sound quality and the ease of use with these phones. Everything you can ask for are with these phones. You want to know who is calling? It's there! You want to pipe up the volume? Go right ahead! Wanna know what time it is? Just pick up the receive. The time is right there! The Panasonic 6645b is a great piece of work. I hear they are discontinuing this model. If they are I'm sure glad I got mine before they do!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Features on Reliable Cordless Phone Set I'm a careful researcher of consumer products before I purchase, and that's never led me to purchase a cordless that wasn't a Panasonic. And I've never been dissatisfied. With this set, I was pleasantly surprised at some of the features: 1: The charge-back feature to enable phone usage during a power outage even impressed my electrician when we were having our panel upgraded. Its come in handy during storms as well. 2: The ability to have a TIMED EVENT of no rings on INDIVIDUAL phones is so useful. When I was home on medical leave, I had a pesky insurance woman who loved to call me at 8AM. No problem--I just programmed the bedroom phone to not ring until 10AM. 3: Intercom with naming feature--we have a in-home intercom system, but I always seem to use the phone intercom. Its just easier. 4: Speaks to you caller ID--Busy cooking at the stove when the phone rings? The phone can tell you who it is so without moving you can decide whether or not to answer. Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase and glad I got it with 5 phones since I use it as an intercom. I don't, however, use it as answering machine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great phone!! ive had panasonic phones for quite awhile. the last ones we had was lost in a fire. but im here to tell you from my personal experience, these phones are comfortable to hold, easy to use, we never had any problems with the electronics. they were a bit expensive, but i believe you get what you pay for. if you looking for a quality product, you found it. thanks panasonic for a product that actually does what it says it will do, and last.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quality gone I have for years used nothing but Panasonic cordless phones, they were the standard. I recently purchased this model KX-TG6645, and noticed that voice transmission only works one way at a time. These phones are no longer duplex, rather they are simplex. If a long winded person starts talking you cannot interrupt them on get their attention until they stop talking because this phone, in fact none of Panasonic's phones, offer duplex operation. For this reason I returned the phone and will find another brand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Would benefit from a larger address book I purchased this to replace a previous Panasonic system that had given great service over a period of almost ten years. One of the key features for me was that it can cope with power outages and still keep working, albeit on battery power. The other big plus over my old phone is that it uses standard "AAA" rechargeable batteries rather than the wrapped multi-cell type my old system used. However, I'm disappointed to find that the address book capacity, at 50 numbers, is no larger than the model it replaced. With memory being so cheap these days, it should really be possible to provide for more capacity. It is nice that the phone book is shared by all the handsets, rather than having to be copied from one to another, as we had to with our old system.

  • How do I clear New Voicemail on my handsets display?
    Your telephone is alerting you that you have a new voice message from your phone companys assigned Voice mailbox. Procedure to access your voice mailbox would vary depending on the instructions of your phone company/service provider. Once you listen to your new messages, "New Voicemail" should be cleared from the handset.

    Note: If the handset still indicates there are new messages even after you have listened to all new messages, turn it off by pressing and holding [#] until the handset beeps.

  • How do I check my voicemail using the handset?
    To retrieve your voicemail message(s) from your Telephone Provider, you will need to enter in the voicemail access number.

    To store your voicemail access number on the handset, follow the below:
    1. Press [MENU] [#] [3] [3] [1]
    2. Enter in the voicemail access number
    3. Press [SAVE]
    4. [VM] will appear on the display once you have stored the voicemail number.
    Note: Please contact your Telephone Provider if you do not know the Voicemail access number, PIN and/or password.

  • Are Panasonic phones hearing aid compatible?
    Yes.Our phone systems pass the FCC requirement no. 68 andalso comply to the "TIA-1083" standard. Our phoneshave reduced noise and interference when used with T-Coil equipped hearing aids and cochlear implants.

  • What can I do if liquid or other form of moisture has entered the handset/base unit?
    Disconnect the AC adaptor and telephone line cord from the base unit. Remove the batteries from the handset and leave to dry for at least 3 days. After the handset/base unit are completely dry, reconnect the AC adaptor and telephone line cord. Insert the batteries and charge fully before use. If the unit does not work properly, contact an authorized service center.

    CAUTION: To avoid permanent damage, do not use a microwave oven to speed up the drying process.

  • How do I turn off the Talking Caller ID on my phone?
    To turn off Talking Caller ID on the Handset:
    1. Press [MENU] [#] [1] [6] [2].
    2. Press the [▲] or the [▼] button to turn the handset Caller ID on or off.

      Note: The base and each handset are programmed individually.

  • How do I view, add, block, and unblock numbers?
    Add numbers to my blocked list of numbers:

    To manually block a number:
    1. Press the [MENU] [#] [2] [1] [7] on the handset
    2. Press [ADD]
    3. Enter the phone number you want blocked
    4. Press [SAVE]

    To store block number from caller list:

    1. Press [MENU] [#] [2] [1] [3]
    2. Scroll to the number to be blocked
    3. Press [SAVE]

    Note: If you do not want the first ring from a phone number on the call block list to sound, turn the first ring setting to "Off". Follow this procedure on the handset:

    1. Press the [MENU] [#] [1] [7] [3]
    2. Select "ON"
    3. Press [SAVE]

    View the numbers I have blocked:

    To view the block list do the following procedure:
    1. On the handset press [MENU] [#] [2] [1] [7]
    2. Press the [▲] or the [▼] to view numbers that are blocked.
    3. Press [OFF] to exit the setting.

    Blocking numbers of calls I do not wish to receive:

    Some models will allow you to block calls. Caller ID service is required to identify phone numbers to match what you have stored on the call block list. Some units are capable of blocking up to 250 phone numbers, if you have more than 250 numbers to block then subscribing to a call block service from you phone company is an option.

  • How do I set the date and time on my handset?
    Depending on your model, please follow the below options:

    OPTION #1
    Using the handset, press [MENU] then press the [▲] or [▼] to scroll to "Date and time" then press [OK]. Enter the hour and minute using two digits for each; press the soft key for [*] to select between AM and PM, then press [OK] to save your setting.

    OPTION #2
    Using the handset, press [MENU] [#] [1] [0] [1]. Enter the date in the order month, date, year using two digits for each, then press [OK]. Now enter the hour and minute using two digits for each; press [*] to select between AM and PM, then press [OK]

  • Why cant I hear the dial tone?
    • Make sure that the base unit has power.
    • Check if all cords are secure and plugged in properly from the wall and from the back of the base unit.
    • Try to plug the unit to a known working jack then test again.
    • If you have a different phone on the same line, and you are also not getting a dial tone, it is possibly a line problem. If that is the case, it is advised to contact your local phone company for further assistance.

  • Why do I hear a series of beeps before my dial tone?
    If your dial tone is interrupted by several short gaps or beeps your phone company is indicating the arrival of a new voice mail message. It is the signal sent by your phone company to let users know that a message is waiting to be retrieved. If you are subscribed to a voice mail service from your provider this is normal.

  • Why does the phone display "Line in Use" or "Busy"?
    Someone might be using the line. If you have multiple handsets, please check to see if the other handsets were properly hung up or in the charger. If you have already done this, and the error "Line in use" is still appearing on the phone, check any other phones are getting a dial tone.

    If the problem persists, follow these procedure:
    1. Unplug your Panasonic phone both from the phone jack.
    2. Try relocating the telephone on a different phone jack inside the house.
    3. Try using a different line cord if you have any other available.
    4. Try using the phone at a friend or neighbors house.

  • How can I re-register my handset or register additional handsets?
    To register a handset, perform the following steps:
    1. Press [MENU] [#] [1] [3] [0] on the Handset
    2. Press and hold down the [LOCATOR] button on the base for about 5 seconds until you hear the registration tone
      If all registered handsets starts ringing, press [LOCATOR] again to stop, then repeat this step, procedure needs to be completed within 90 seconds
    3. Press [OK] on the handset

  • How do I deregister a handset which is no longer in use?
    To deregister a handset, you will need to follow the below steps:
    1. Press [MENU] [#] [1] [3] [1]
    2. Press [▲]/[▼] to select the handset
    3. Press [SELECT]
    4. Press [▲]/[▼] to select "YES"
    5. Press [SELECT] to deregister the handset

  • What do I need to do if I have a new or replacement telephone handset I am unable to register to my base unit?
    If you have attempted to register a new or replacement handset to your base unit and it has failed to register the new or replacement unit, you may have exceeded the number of handsets that can be registered to your base unit. It is important to remember when replacing a defective handset, or adding a new handset you cannot exceed 6 handsets. Additionally, if a handset is being replaced the old handset must be deregistered to ensure your base unit has space available for the new or replacement unit.   • Can I access my answering machine while I am away from home?
    Yes. You can access the answering machine remotely by dialing your phone number on any touch tone phone to call it and as soon as you hear your greeting message play, enter your mailbox password or remote code and follow the voice prompt, as soon as you are done listening to your messages you can hang up.

  • Why does my answering machine say "Memory Full"?
    The error message indicates that the answering machines maximum recording time was reached. You need to erase messages from your answering machine for it to start recording new messages again.

    Note: The ANSWER ON indicator on the base unit flashes rapidly when you have reached maximum capacity.

  • How can I turn on the audible message alert to notify when I have a new message on the answering machine?
    Some models have this feature to allow the base unit to beep to inform you of a new message arrival when new messages are recorded. The base unit beeps 2 times every minute until you listen to the messages, if the "Base unit beep" setting is turned on. The default setting is "Off".
    To activate the feature follow these procedure:
    1. Press [MENU] [#] [3] [3] [9]
    2. Select the desired setting, "ON" or "OFF"
    3. Press SAVE then the OFF button

  • How do I setup/change my remote access code for my answering machine?
    A remote access code must be entered to operating the answering system remotely. This code prevents unauthorized parties from listening to your messages when your away from home. To setup or change your remote code, perform one of the following procedures below using your cordless handset:
    1. Press [MENU] [#] [3] [0] [6] on the handset
    2. Key in your preferred 3 digit remote access code
    3. Press [OK] or [SAVE]

    1. Press [MENU] and scroll down by pressing [▲] or [▼] until "Answering Device" is displayed, then press [OK]
    2. Press your [▲] or [▼] repeatedly until "Setting" is displayed, then press [OK]
    3. Press your [▲] or [▼] until "Remote Code" is displayed, then press [OK]
    4. Key in your preferred 3 digit code
    5. Press [OK] or [SAVE] to save the change then press [OFF]
    Note: You wont be able to access your messages from your answering machine when you are away from your phone if you forget your remote access code.
