  • What should I do if my product needs service?

    NOTE: This does not apply to TVs, Microwaves, Vacuums, and Massage Chairs

    Please include your name, address, telephone number, email address, copy of your purchase receipt (for warranty service), and a description of what is wrong with the unit. Freight collect shipments will not be accepted.

    Panasonic is not responsible for damage that occurs in transit. All contents should be packaged for safe travel to the service center. Customer should use a reputable small package shipping company that is able to provide a package tracking number and insurance (if customer should so desire to insure their package).

    Units that are abused, damaged, infested with insects, have corrosion, etc. will be placed out-of-warranty.

  • Why is there no power to the fax machine?
    Make sure that the power cord is connected. Also, try a different power outlet.
  • Why am I unable to send a fax?
    The telephone line cord may be connected to the [EXT] jack on the unit. Connect to the [LINE] jack.
    1. If you used a splitter/coupler to connect the unit, remove the splitter/coupler and connect the unit to the wall jack directly. If the unit operates properly, check the splitter/coupler.
    2. Disconnect the unit from the telephone line and connect a known working telephone. If the working telephone operates properly, contact our service personnel to have the unit repaired. If the working telephone does not operate properly, contact your telephone company.
    3. The power cord or telephone line cord is not connected. Check the connections.
    4. If you have connected the fax machine through a computer modem, connect the fax machine directly to a telephone line jack.
  • Where can I order parts for my product?

  • What should I do if I have no dial tone on my fax machine?
    1. Check the power cord and telehpone line cord connections.
    2. Try a different telephone line cord. Problem may be with the phone cord.
    3. Unplug the fax machine and install a different portable phone on the wall jack where the product is currently plugged. If the portable phone has a dial tone then it's a problem with the machine. Please call the technical Helpline for options. If the portable phone doesn't have dial tone but is working on the other jack then there could be a problem with the jack where the machine is currently plugged in to.
    4. The telephone line cord may be connected to the [EXT] jack on the product instead of the [LINE] jack.
    5. If you have connected the fax machine through a computer modem, connect the fax machine directly to a telephone line jack.
    6. Relocate the product.
  • What is the memory capacity of my machine?
    The machines internal fax memory capacity is: Approx. 28 pages of memory reception Approx. 25 pages of memory transmission (Based on the ITU-T No. 1 Test Chart in standard resolution.)
  • My film keeps getting tangled up or keeps sticking why does it keep doing this?
    This usually happens if you are using after market brands or films made by another manufacturer. The wax contents for the Panasonic film and after market brands are different thus the film sticks to the machine and paper. If you are using genuine Panasonic films then the machine needs to be serviced.
  • I am getting a paper jammed error message. What do I do to fix it?
    To remove this message you need to remove the jammed paper. You may need to open the cover of the machine and pull the jammed paper towards you. Make sure that there are no pieces of paper left in the unit. Remove the installed paper and reinstall gently. Close the unit once you are done.
  • I am getting a Fax Memory Full error message. What do I do to fix it?
    This is a problem where the machine is unable to print out the received document and the data is stored into the machine's memory. It is generally resolved by pulling the out recording paper, fan them, reorient the paper (for frayed edges) and then reinstall. Putting in a fresh stack of papers would also help. Make sure that the number of pages does not exceed the paper tray capacity specified for the unit. Please check for other possible message which can help you solve the issue.
  • I am getting a Comm Error message when I am trying to send or receive a fax. What do I do to fix it?
    The error code or messages shown on the unit tells you what went wrong. It could vary from a line problem, running out of film, toner or paper. Please see your operating manual for the possible error messages shown by your machine.
  • How do I send international fax messages?
    Make sure the unit is set to overseas transmission mode. Add two pauses at the end of the telephone number or dial it manually. You can set the fax machine to overseas mode by doing the following:
    1. Press [Menu]. "System Setup is displayed.
    2. Press [#] [2] [3]. "Overseas Mode" is displayed.
    3. Press [Start/Set/Copy] then use the [▲] or [▼] navigational buttons to set the mode to "On".
    4. Press [Start/Set/Copy].
  • How do I receive a fax?
    When the units rings lift the handset. If a document reception is required, or a fax calling tone (slow beep) is heard, or no sound is heard press [Start/Set/Copy]. The unit's display will show "Connecting". Replace the handset. The unit will start fax reception.
  • How do I install a new film (KX-FHD301,KX-FM106,KX-FP101,KX-FP105,KX-FP121)?
    1. Open the front cover by pressing the cover open button on the left side of the unit's cover.
    2. Remove the used film cartridge.
    3. Take the new film out of the box. You should be using authentic Panasonic Film KX-FA65. Remove the film stopper from the new film by pressing it upwards.
    4. If the ink film has slack, tighten it by winding the gears from the back towards the front.
    5. Turn the film so that the "BACK" is facing up.
    6. Insert the new film cartridge by inserting first the front of the cartridge into the unit and then lowering the "BACK" of the cartridge into place.
    7. Close the cover. You will hear a rolling sound as the unit is checking that there is no slack on the ink film. You will see "PLEASE WAIT" on the display.
  • How do I change the ring tone when receiving an outside call?
    No ring tone feature available for this model.
  • How do I change the dialing mode from pulse to tone?
    1. Press [MENU]
      Displays: "1. SYSTEM SET UP"
    2. Press [#] then [1] [3]
      Displays: "DIALING MODE"
    3. Press [START/SET/COPY]
      Displays: "MODE=AUTO ▲▼"
    4. Press [▼] or [▲], repeatedly to select the desired setting, which is "TONE"
    5. Press [START/SET/COPY]
      Displays: "SETUP ITEM [ ]"
    6. Press [MENU]
  • How can I reset this unit?
    This unit can be reset by doing the following:
    1. Press [Menu]. "System Setup" is displayed.
    2. Press [#] [8] [0]. "Set Default" is displayed.
    3. Press [Start/Set/Copy] then use the [▲] or [▼] navigational buttons to select "Yes".
    4. Press [Start/Set/Copy]. "OK?" is displayed on the unit.
    5. Press [Start/Set/Copy] again for confirmation.
    6. "Reset Completed" will be displayed on the unit.
  • How can I register for the warranty of my product?
    You may register your products online by clicking here. It is not necessary to submit this form in order to effectuate the limited warranty. As long as there is a copy of the receipt, your product warranty begins from the date of purchase.
  • How can I connect my fax machine to a home phone line with an answering machine on the same line?
    To ensure both your answering machine and fax work hand in hand to receive messages and faxes, they must be connected to each other. The telephone line port from the answering machine that is normally plugged into the wall jack should be connected into the EXT port of the fax machine. Then set your answering machine to pick up on the 4th or lower ring count and the fax to 5 EXT TAM.
  • Can I used legal sized (8-1/2' X 14') paper in this fax machine?
    Yes. Open the document feeder tray and adjust the width of the document guides to the size of the paper you are using. If you have a paper stacker extender then press the dotted area on the extender, open it then place the paper in it.
  • Can I connect my fax machine to my computer in order to be used as a printer?
    No. It can't be connected to your computer since the fax machine doesn't have USB or LAN connection and its not a multifunction unit.
