  • Why is there no power to the fax machine?
    Make sure that the power cord is connected. Also, try a different power outlet.
  • Why is it that when someone leaves me a message it cuts off? How do I fix it?
    Check the recording time for incoming messages.
    1. Press [MENU] [#] [1] [0]
    2. Press the [+] or [-] repeatedly until you see "3 MIN"
    3. Press [SET] to save
    4. Press [MENU] to exit
    NOTE: 3 Minutes is the maximum length for incoming messages.
  • Why does the film run out so fast?
    This unit comes with a starter film roll (10 meters) that gives you about 30-35 pages of output. You can purchase films through Parts/Accessory. This unit uses KX-FA91 which comes in a box of 25m x 2 rolls, that allows to print about 80 letter-size pages per roll.
  • Why can't I receive any incoming messages.
    Check if the unit shows "MESSAGE FULL". If so, you will have to erase messages so you can receive incoming messages. You can do this by pressing [ERASE] then [SET] to erase all recorded messages or by pressing [ERASE] while a message is being played back.

    Make sure that the unit is set to TAM/FAX [Menu] [#] [7] [7]. Make sure that there is a light by the [AUTO ANSWER]. If not, just press [AUTO ANSWER] repeatedly until you see "TAM/FAX Mode" on the display.

    Make sure that [MENU] [#] [1] [0] is not set to "GREETING ONLY" for this will not allow callers to leave messages after the greeting is played.
  • Why am I unable to send a fax?
    The telephone line cord may be connected to the [EXT] jack on the unit. Connect to the [LINE] jack.
    1. If you used a splitter/coupler to connect the unit, remove the splitter/coupler and connect the unit to the wall jack directly. If the unit operates properly, check the splitter/coupler.
    2. Disconnect the unit from the telephone line and connect a known working telephone. If the working telephone operates properly, contact our service personnel to have the unit repaired. If the working telephone does not operate properly, contact your telephone company.
    3. The power cord or telephone line cord is not connected. Check the connections.
    4. If you have connected the fax machine through a computer modem, connect the fax machine directly to a telephone line jack.

  • What should I do when the unit displays "Check Film"?

  • What should I do if I have no dial tone on my fax machine?
    1. Check the power cord and telehpone line cord connections.
    2. Try a different telephone line cord. Problem may be with the phone cord.
    3. Unplug the fax machine and install a different portable phone on the wall jack where the product is currently plugged. If the portable phone has a dial tone then it's a problem with the machine. Please call the technical Helpline for options. If the portable phone doesn't have dial tone but is working on the other jack then there could be a problem with the jack where the machine is currently plugged in to.
    4. The telephone line cord may be connected to the [EXT] jack on the product instead of the [LINE] jack.
    5. If you have connected the fax machine through a computer modem, connect the fax machine directly to a telephone line jack.
    6. Relocate the product.
  • The documents that I faxed out or copy has a black lines on it. How do I fix it?
    The scanner glass may be dirty with debris such as "white out" or just plain dirt.
    1. Unplug the unit and locate the scanner glass
    2. Clean with dry cloth or if necessary, use a damped cloth with rubbing alcohol to help remove dirt
    3. Dry thoroughly before replugging the unit
  • My film keeps getting tangled up or keeps sticking why does it keep doing this?
    This usually happens if you are using after market brands or films made by another manufacturer. The wax contents for the Panasonic film and after market brands are different thus the film sticks to the machine and paper. If you are using genuine Panasonic films then the machine needs to be serviced.
  • I am getting a paper jammed error message. What do I do to fix it?
    To remove this message you need to remove the jammed paper. You may need to open the cover of the machine and pull the jammed paper towards you. Make sure that there are no pieces of paper left in the unit. Remove the installed paper and reinstall gently. Close the unit once you are done.
  • I am getting a Fax Memory Full error message. What do I do to fix it?
    This is a problem where the machine is unable to print out the received document and the data is stored into the machine's memory. It is generally resolved by pulling the out recording paper, fan them, reorient the paper (for frayed edges) and then reinstall. Putting in a fresh stack of papers would also help. Make sure that the number of pages does not exceed the paper tray capacity specified for the unit. Please check for other possible message which can help you solve the issue.
  • How do I view missed calls on my fax machine?
    For Handset caller ID:
    1. Press [▼] or [▲] to display "Caller list"
      • You can also press [Rcvd calls]
    2. Press [▼] to search from the recently received caller information
      • If you press [▲], the display order will be reversed
    3. 3 Press [TALK] or [SP-PHONE] to return the call

    For Base unit caller ID:

    1. Press [MENU] repeatedly to display "PRINT REPORT"
    2. Press [◄] or [►] repeatedly to display the "CALLER ID" list then press [SET]
      • To stop printing, press [STOP]
  • How do I turn set the ring count of the built in answering machine for my fax machine?
    On the Base Unit:
    1. Press [MENU] [#] [0] [6] then [SET].
    2. Press the [+] or [-] repeatedly until you see the desired number of rings (Max is 4 rings).
    3. Press [SET] to save.
    4. Press [MENU] to exit.
  • How do I to set date and time on my Fax Machine?

      NOTE: To enter a character that is located on the same dial key as the previously entered character, you must first press [&#9658;] to move the cursor to the next space
      To make corrections: Press [◄] or [►] to move the cursor to the incorrect character, and enter the correct character. You can also press [STOP] to delete the incorrect character left to the cursor
      Pressing [#] will change the character to upper-case or lower-case alternatively
    3. Press [SET] to save
    4. Press [MENU] to exit
  • How do I reset the machine?
    To perform a reset on the machine just unplug the power cord from the power outlet for a couple of seconds and plug it back in. It clears any faxes that is in the memory.

    Note: this does not affect the settings and messages saved in the unit. The power reset just reinitializes the entire system.
  • How do I record my own greeting message?
    1. Set the unit to TAM/FAX by pressing [Menu] [#] [7] [7] and choosing "TAM/FAX" by pressing the [+] or [-] button then pressing [SET] to save
    2. Press the [GREETING REC] then [SET]. You will hear a long beep sound
    3. Speak clearly about 20 cm (8 inches) away from MIC
    4. When finished recording, press [STOP]. The unit will playback the message you just recorded
  • How do I put my fax number in the machine?
    1. Press [MENU] [#] [1] [0] [3] then [SET]. You will see "NO.=" on the screen
    2. Enter your fax number, up to 20 digits
      NOTE:
      - To enter a "+", press [*]
      - To enter a space, press [#]
      - To enter a hyphen, press [FLASH]
      - To erase a number, press [STOP]
    3. Press [SET] to save
    4. Press [MENU] to exit
  • How do I install a new film (KX-FG2451,KX-FP215)?
    1. Open the front cover
    2. Open the back cover by pressing the green button on the right side of the machine
    3. Make sure that there's no film on the white spool and all the film are on the blue spool before replacing it
    4. Remove the film out of the machine
    5. Take the new film out of the box. You should be using authentic Panasonic Film KX-FA91. Remove the stoppers and tags from the both ends of the film
    6. Install the film by inserting the blue spool in the front slot and the white spool at the back slot. The gears should be at the left side of the machine
    7. The blue spool should have at least one layer of film by winding it towards the direction of the white spool. Make sure there is no slack
    8. Close the back cover. You will hear a rolling sound once it is shut properly
    9. Close the front cover
  • How do I erase my greeting message?
    1. Press [GREETING CHECK]. The unit will playback the recorded greeting message
    2. While the greeting is playing back, press [ERASE]

    NOTE: If you erase your TAM/FAX greeting message, the pre-recorded greeting message will be played when a call is received.

  • How do I check my own greeting message?
    Press the [GREETING CHECK] to playback your greeting message.
  • How do I change the ring tone when receiving an outside call?
    For Base unit:
