Correct hand-shake when shooting on the move.
HYBRID O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilization)
The newly developed HYBRID O.I.S. is an image stabilization system that provides hybrid optical and electrical hand-shake correction. In addition to our previous hand-shake correction, we've achieved a new 4-axis image stabilization function that compensates for movements of the entire arm. This produces beautiful images when you shoot while walking, or when zooming.
*The use of a high-performance CPU is recommended for video conferencing with high-quality images.

Active Mode Even with its compact size and super mobility, the TA1 lets you shoot full-HD movies and photos. Just slip it into a pocket or hang it from your wrist. It goes wherever you go. Perfect for capturing everyday fun.

Connect the SDX1 to a PC and... It's a web camera!

High Quality Picture & Sound
Make your memories more beautiful, more dynamic.
Full-HD (1,920 x 1,080) Recording (AVCHD)
The SDX1 renders images in breathtaking, full-HD (1920 x 1080) beauty, so you can save your memories in stunning image quality and watch them on a large-screen TV.
*Full-HD video with 1920 x 1080 pixels" in Panasonic home use camcorders refers to video recordings with 1920 pixels in the horizontal direction and 1080 pixels in the vertical direction.

Beautiful zoom shots of distant subjects.
Intelligent 23x Zoom and HYBRID O.I.S.
The SDX1 features an Intelligent Zoom function that goes all the way up to 23x. When using Intelligent Zoom, Intelligent Resolution technology lets you shoot at high zoom rates while preserving the image resolution. You get sharp images of highly detailed objects -- without the blurry edges. Plus, the SDX1 is equipped with HYBRID O.I.S, an image stabilization system that corrects hand-shake blurring by combining the action of its hybrid optical and electrical image stabilization systems. Even when zooming, where hand-shake often occurs, both optical and electrical hand-shake correction make it possible to record beautiful images with approximately 2 times* the hand-shake suppressing effect as conventional models.
* Compared with the HDC-SD60, HDC-TM60, HDC-HS60.

Captures large groups, even when shooting from up close.
35.8 mm Wide Angle*
The 35.8mm wide-angle* setting on the SDX1 fits more people and more of the background into the frame than a conventional 44.1mm lens*. This is especially handy when you want to take a group photo in a small room. It fits your subjects in even when you shoot from up close, and makes it possible to pick up even small sounds with the mic.
It also gives you entirely new ways to enjoy your camcorder, like taking self portraits or capturing sweeping landscapes without losing the sense of scale.

*35mm camera equivalent

Shooting Functions
Makes optimal settings automatically for both motion and still images. iA (Intelligent Auto)
This powerful function senses the shooting conditions and automatically makes the settings and activates functions that will deliver optimal results. With both motion and still images, iA does the bothersome settings for you and makes it easy to capture beautiful, well-focused images.
*The functions included in iA may not be applied when conditions do not call for them.

HDC-SDX1H is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Many digicams take better video Many digital cameras take better looking video. The colors were totally washed out. The colors never popped, the contrast was weak, and it was seriously lacking in sharpness. Not to mention the constant haze, and terrible low light performance. When indoors with all the lights, a total off 13 lights in like 400sqft, on it was terrible. I purchased a 3Mos camcorder, and the difference was AMAZING. There is no comparison at all. The simple fact is that with a single 1/4 inch sensor, most digital cameras have sensors that are nearly double the size. So, why pay huge money, when a 100 dollar digicam can produce better colors and contrast? Rather than this, get a nice digital camera and you get most of the video features, much better image, and all the still pictures aspects in an even more transportable size (which is the SDX1s only real redeeming quality anyway.) The SDX1 lacks a good sensor, a good lens, a good processor, and is a total ripoff for anything over 150 bucks. Search youtube for 3mos vs 1mos, and you will understand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, if you know how to adjuest it This is my second camcorder to replace old mini-DV. For the frequently World traveler, the size is important and I don't have to bring AC adapter to recharge battery on the road. I just plug-in to my netbook USB port to charge it. The video quality is not acceptable if you compare to high-end 3 MOS model. But with the manual setting mode, you can get the terrific amazing sharpness and details for each video scene. The secret it to set sharpness to +5, and color saturation to +3. In this situation you can get very good video even in 640x480 VGA mode. The other advantage is the different format SDX1 supported, I didn't use 1920x1080 HD mode on the road. Most of time I just shot at VGA format for 4:3 video, or iFrame for 16:9; I just wonder about how come the 1280x720p just get the slightly degradation in video sharpness compare to 960x540 iFrame. (May be iFame encoded at 28Mbps and 720p MP4 encoded in 10Mbps). The beautiful side is these 3 formats are easy to open, edit, color enhancement, sharpness adjustment, and convert it to DivX (Xvid) by Avidemux freeware around 800kbps to 1200kbps video rate by my Acer netbook runs at 1.3GHz CPU with only 1GB memory. If you go travel, you can upload the edited DivX video to your blog or web-site even with less resolution at lower video bit rate. (Resize is build-in in Avidemux) I have another Panasonic Fz-28 camera, compare to it's video capability; SDX1 can get better and faster focus and low light video quality. Of course FZ-28 makes better and solid picture quality; it's digital Camera. I am not recommand this camcorder for average traveler, who won't make and video editing on the road. But as a backpacker and travler documentary, SDX1 is my favorite.
