Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great device every parent should know This is a must have product for every family, I am and always will be a photo and video junky. I document everything, with the use of my iPhone or my canon DSLR. I thought I was covered on all sides with those 2 products. Since the smartphones came on the scene, video cameras have really gotten a bad wrap, they were almost made obsolete because people feel that a smart phone will do what you need or you can use your DSLR if you need a little more quality. That is not accurate, since a handheld camcorder is made for one thing to shoot video, the image stabilization the panning and the ZOOOOOOOOOOOOM AMAZING!!! you can not come close with any smartphone or even a pro SLR As I started using it I found out that it can be used as a baby monitor!! You can put it on an tripod or any shelf in the room, download the free panasonic image app and you are ready to go, you will be able to zoom in and out all wirelessly anywhere in the house right from the app and hear audio and hit record at anytime should you chose. That’s awesome! I found the camera easy to use. I take a lot of pictures of everything, but videos I shoot only of my son, either to send to my husband at wok or grandparents, and with this camera with the built in wifi you can shoot straight to the phone or transfer wirelessly via wifi and video already shot. It is easier then shooting straight from a phone, because by the time you take your phone, unlock it, go to the camera app and change it to video – you will most likely miss that special moment you were trying to capture. With this camcorder you are recording almost instantly by flicking open the screen. (this is the main reason I completely stopped using the iPhone camera for video) My son is almost 2 years old now, and I think back on so many videos that I missed before I got this camera. All videos have date stamps so I can easily go back and find when was the first time he started to walk and talk. When someone asks me how old he was first time he said mama and first steps and so on I don't remember, like most people, but since I started using the camera I can just go back to any video with its date and time stamps and know it all. The only negative is- I don't like is the interface on the screen, it seems a little dated and simple, I would’ve of preferred to see something more appealing in terms of icons and menu options. Overall this is a must have for every family, its is fairly cheap, it is multi functional and the quality is amazing and the smartphone app is so clever, sometimes I put the camera on my son and watch remotely from the other room as he plays and sings and I can just start to record it, because he is already old enough to understand when I pull out the camera and sometimes gets shy, this is a great little feature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very user friendly camera! The video camera comes with a wow factor that keeps on giving. From the first use of the camera we were elated with the sleekness, ease of use and functionality. Then we were impressed with the stability control and the simplicity of that icon on the touch screen that indicates when the camera is tilled in one direction or another. The camera fits snugly in the hand and the one hand controls are really impressive. The zoom speed, depth, and quality also stand out. The Wi-Fi capability is a great added touch that gives the Panasonic HC-V520 a huge functionality advantage for the tech savvy folks like us. the most important element here is the picture quality and this camera did not disappoint! The only one negative has been the responsiveness, UX, and lack of sensitivity of the touch screen. The UX on the flip screen could be improved on with more up to date icons and smoother transitions. That is by far our biggest complaint. Outside of that the camera is a great. One of the most impressive thing thus far has been that since the initial charge we have not had to charge the camera yet and we have been recording hours and hours of video.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My time with a Panasonic HC-V520 When my brand new Panasonic HC-V520 Camcorder arrived I was looking to supplement my current Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS10 Digital Camera. Reason why was that my digital camera did not produce quality video indoors or in poorly lit conditions. Unboxing the HC-V520 was simple. It came with a battery, charging cables and computer hookup cables. Thankfully you do not have to remove the battery to charge the camcorder unlike my digital camera. After a half day charge, I decided to give the camcorder a try. I inserted a Class 10 Panasonic SD card special for HD cameras. The only problem here was finding the on button. After a minute I found it on the inside. On the inside there are 4 buttons so the interface is pretty simple on the camera body. Also after you turn it on once, to turn off simply close the screen and to turn back on just open the screen and immediate boot up. Very fast and smooth. As far as shooting features you are limited to the basics. There are guidelines and a digital stabilizing guide that looks like something you would find on a fighter jet which has a cool factor. While shooting I kept it on the iA setting which automatically adjusts. I actually did only indoor filiming and was amazed with the quality even in dark conditions there were no pixels just nice HD video. The zoom is great. 80x. You can easily control the speed of the zoom and I even zoomed in on a human leg (my own) and was able to see each folicle in perfect HD. Sound quality on the recordings was very good. I was not too impressed with the on screen interface but it was to the point and I was able to find everything. I just think it could have been niocer. The best feature was the WiFi link To Cell. This feature allows you to use your cell phone to control the camcorder aslong as you are on the same network. I had a lot of fun with this one especially controlling the camcorder from another room in the house. The still pictures, indoors came out better than my digital camera. I was shocked especially since the camcorder does not have a flash. Overall the HC-V520 is a great camcorder. The size of the camcorder is not bad and fits in the hand well. The lack of onboard memory does not bother me as SD cards go on sale often and you can change them out easily. The Wifi is a great feature as well as the standard filiming modes. The 5 Axis image stabilazation system did help me through my daughters class play as my hand was tired.
