Features

Micro Four Thirds Digital Interchangeable Lens

LUMIX G VARIO HD 14-140mm/F4.0-5.8 ASPH./MEGA O.I.S.
With Silent Design for HD Movie Recording

The LUMIX G lens incorporates an inner focus direct-drive linear motor for focusing, which enables smooth, silent operation of its fast and accurate contrast AF system, for use in both photo and movie recording. Adopting the Micro Four Thirds System standard, the new lens offers a wide and long zoom range of 14-140mm (35mm camera equivalent: 28-280mm) to suit a large variety of shooting situations, from scenery to portraits or telephoto shots, in a surprisingly compact and lightweight body.

The new lens system uses four aspherical lenses and two ED lenses to achieve dramatic downsizing despite its powerful 10x optical zoom, while minimizing distortion and chromatic aberration. Panasonic's Mega O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) suppresses the blurring that is commonly caused by hand-shake, making it easy to shoot clear shots even at telephoto range or in dimly lit places without using a tripod.

Seven blades give the aperture a rounded shape that produces an attractively smooth effect in out-of-focus areas when shooting at larger aperture settings.

The LUMIX G VARIO HD 14-140mm/F4.0-5.8 ASPH./MEGA O.I.S. lens also features a highly reliable metal mount, and uses multi-coated lens elements that minimize ghosts and flare to further enhance its optical performance.

  • MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) - Panasonic's advanced hand-shake correction technology
  • 4 aspherical lenses and 2 ED lenses for superb optical performance
  • An inner focus direct-drive linear motor for focusing, which enables smooth, silent operation of its fast and accurate Contrast AF system
  • Continuous AF/AE function that supports for both photos and videos
  • Circular aperture diaphragm
  • Multi-coated lens elements minimize ghosts and flare
  • Durable metal mount
  • Light from the built-in flash of the camera may be blocked and cause shading areas in the resulting picture depending on the shooting condition.

H-VS014140 is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent do-it-all lens! I purchased this lens to replace my 14-45 and 45-150 because I didn't appreciate having to swap out all the time, and I'm very happy with the decision. The 10x zoom range is extremely versatile, and the balance when mounted on my Lumix G6 body is great. Images are sharp even wide open, and stopping down a bit makes them even better. I've also taken some unexpectedly crisp hand-held bird shots all the way out at 140mm. I also like that you can switch off the image stabilization, and that it's made in Japan. This will be the only lens I take on my European trip this summer. Great job Panasonic!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 14-140mm Pretty Good I splurged and got this with my tax return. It cost much less on Amazon (Sorry Panasonic). Having moved up from a quality point-n-shoot, this is a whole new picture quality. Bought this because I plan on shooting more video with this camera and the lens is quiet during focus. It also shoots well indoors in average light. No flash needed. Love my GH2, love my fancy lens.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great versatile lens I've recently purchased the Lumix DMC GF2 with the 14042 lens. Since I wanted a lens with a greater zooming ability, I've changed the 14042 by the 14140, It is more expensive, but I believe provide an all-in-one value lens. I can comfortably take pictures from 30'-40' without giving up on quality, and reduced size. It is a bit on the heavy side, but I can fit it with the GF2 in a mid size carrier.
