Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shave - from former blade guy This is a great shaver. They say to wait a month and you'll never go back to blades. Well it took about 3 weeks. It seems to work best "wet". It's pretty easy to clean by itself but I've been trying out the auto clean mode. I don;t know, I'm not so convinced you need all that, plus space and a plug for the cleaning station. That, I would like to decide whether or not to charge the battery when it's sitting in the station but that option isn't available. So I'm sold on the shave but could forgo the staion, but if you catch this on a deal, it's worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy Razor It is a high quality product and has replaced my other electric razor I had for years that is a different style. Haven't used it wet yet, but the dry method works great. Close shave, and I use it on my body as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Forget Braun shavers, buy Panasonic I've owned the Panasonic Arc5 shaver for over a year now and it has continued to give me a great shave every time I use it. One thing that stands out is how long the shaving foil lasts compared to the Braun series 5, the Braun needed to be replaced after about 3 months and at 50 dollars for a replacement I'm sure its not something other consumers want to deal with after just 3 months. Again I just found the quality of shave to be excellent and build quality to be better then the Braun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than my Rotary Shaver. I've used Norelco Rotary shavers for years. It shaves my face ok for the first few months, and then it starts hurting under my chin and neck. The only way to remedy that is to replace the blades at an extremely high cost. So far my Panasonic ES-LV81-K has cut closer than any of my rotary blades shavers, and does not cause pain under my chin and neck. I'll come back in 3 months for an update on my new 5 blade shaver. Also cleaning is so much easier than the rotary shaver. Although I brush and blow out the hairs in the blades of my new Panasonic shaver, I could put under the facet to clean it. I've used the cleaning station once, and it really cleans the blades thoroughly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Impressive Results But at a Premium Price In the end I'm glad I have this shaver (ES-LV81-K) now. I happened to find it on a killer sale here on the Panasonic's website. If it weren't for the sale, I doubt I would have bought it. How did we get to the point where razors cost the same as a car payment? In any case, I was a lifelong rotary shaver user. I am a Caucasian male in my late 30's with thicker, curly beard hair. I am an everyday shaver, occasionally going the weekend without. Over the years I’ve had an increasing number of ingrown hairs under my chin and on my neck. Dealing with them is always a pain and I started growing suspicious that the "lift and cut" action on my rotary shaver was actually working against me. I decided to see if in fact using a foil shaver would help. All the reviews online and a couple words-of-mouth resoundingly pointed to Panasonic. After a few weeks, my skin seems to be settling in and I do really like using this razor. It gives a smooth shave like I would expect, and I’m having less irritation with my ingrowns. This shaver has more trouble grabbing hairs that lie flat against my skin than my rotary did, but by using a good quality pre-shave tonic, this has been improving. I was concerned that I wouldn’t like the noise that a foil shaver makes. Rotaries are just so quiet and when you’re still waking up the last thing you want is being jolted by noise. I was very pleased that while it does have a louder buzz than I was used to, it is not nearly as loud as foil razors I had tried in the past. The pop-up trimmer is handy for truing up facial hair. I do wish it was a bit longer since it tends to get hidden behind the shaving head when using it and it's hard to see what you're doing. The battery life is mediocre. My rotary shaver routinely lasted 2 weeks on a full charge. This one only lasts me a week. Given the price, this is very disappointing. I opted for the cleaning and charging station only because of the killer sale. While I could certainly live without it, it works very well, and I’m happy to give it valuable real estate on my sink counter. Since I have to recharge every week anyway, this gives it a good cleaning without having to think about it all at the same time. The shaver comes with a faux leather carrying case. You’d think it would be nicer and more suitable for tossing around a suitcase, but it will do. Overall, I’m enjoying using this shaver and would recommend it to anyone considering a new foil shaver.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm an old guy who has used electric razors for 60 years. I've tried them all and this is far and away the best yet. ( don't know what will be on the market when I turn 100 ). This one is a few extra bucks to purchase, but well worth it. Very smooth, very fast shave. You can't ask for any better.
