DVD-S38 is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bargin price, quality DVD player! What a nice DVD player! last one just couldn't play over those rental dvds that I swear look like people have played freebie with, even those you follow the directions to clean to try to get it to play over. This plays over everything I've put in it. The features of playing the new video files on a DVD-R is a huge plus! I don't have those new funky TV's with the bells and whistles, but its a good TV. I've bought the $300 and the $25.99 dvd players, and whatever you buy, make sure you mate your electronics to what you already have. Item comes with all cables needed, except if you have a s-video connector on your TV, you will need to purchase a s-video to rca plug cable. I found a good deal at OfficeDepot for this cable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great price, full of features! I've given up spending more than $100 on a DVD player. the firmware is practically outdated by the time it reaches stores shelves. My standard is now paying for a basic DVD player, hook it up to my home theatre system and let that system bring me the features/sounds. This panasonic DVD is outstanding. I rent a lot of DVD, Netflix, local library - those DVD's look like they've been thrown across floors, this DVD player flawlessly plays through scratches, blemishes with no squiggles, freeze screen, or shot pixels. I love thati t plays DVD-R and updated video files formats. It does have a coaxial hook up for receivers, it does not have fiber optic. Check you TV connection - if you only have a S-Video line for your DVD, make sure you purchase a S-Video to RCA cable to install DVD player. Thanks Panasonic for offering great little DVD player during this recession in our country. Makes paying for this not hurt so bad.

FAQs
  • Why can't a rented disc play in my player?
If you're having difficulty playing a disc that you have rented or borrowed, try a disc that you own to see if it plays. If it does play then there could be a problem with the borrowed or rented disc. Try cleaning the disc with a soft cloth to remove any fingerprints or smudges.
  • Is there a remote control code available that will enable me to use another manufacturer's remote to operate this device?
You will have to contact the remote's manufacturer for the codes needed.
  • What do I do in the unit has no power?
If the unit is not powering on, remove the power cord plug from any power strip it may be connected to and plug directly into the wall outlet.
  • Can I playback a DVD from another region other than Region "1", "0", or "play in all regions"?
No, this device is unable to playback a DVD from other regions.
