DMP-BDT230 is rated 2.8 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Weak Wi-Fi and lack of development After a few hours of trouble-shooting a internet connection that was working perfectly before I moved the bluray player to the other side of my entertainment center, I started looking over some reviews online. Turns out being an extra 3 feet further away from my router caused internet to only work sporadically (about 5% of the time). Moving the player back fixed the problem but the router was only 7 feet away at most. The connection to the router showed full bars in the network setup menu, which makes no sense either. Finally, panasonic seems to be simply refusing to create an app to control sytems running 2013 via ipad/andriod. Yes, miracast works, kinda, but previous systems running 2011 and 2012 had dedicated apps for ios and andriod. Not the most confidence inspiring action on panasonic's behalf. Other than that its a solid bluray player with good video playback. Performs basic funtions expected of a bluray player quite well, We'll just have to see how long it lasts...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Blu-ray Player To me, the primary function of this device is to play Blu-ray disks, DVDs, and CDs as a component in a home theater. It does that job very well. The picture quality is very good. It contains a small status display on the front panel. There are four buttons on the top of the unit that operate it without a remote. Also, it works well with my programmable remote control. I also liked the helpful descriptions that are displayed on the setup screens. I experienced one small problem during setup: the firmware update failed and caused the unit to lock up, requiring me to unplug it. However, moving the device to an area having a stronger Wi-Fi signal corrected the problem.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great Features if they were only reliable I was very excited when i purchased this Blue-ray player, the feature list was very impressive. I like that it had wifi, DNLA,Remote control app for you phone and being able to control youtube with your smartphone or computer. The Blue-ray quality is amazing and no complaints. But whats the point of having all these features if they are not reliable. DNLA is very slow and at times it locks up. You have to pull the power-cord to recover not impressed. There are a fair amount of Apps like youtube, amazon, pandora, netflix. There are problems with these also. There are times when you are trying to get to the apps screen it will hang and the only way to recover is again to pull the power-cord. No remote control app for your phone. They made one for 2011 & 2012 but not 2013. Summary I'm very disappointed and wish i never bought this Blue-ray player. Panasonic needs to have better quality standards and test their products before selling them to customers. I was expecting that Panasonic would release a new firmware update to resolve these issues but it says i have the latest release.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Firmware Update killed Video After months of good to fair operation the player will not play newest BD's without video cut outs. I must blame this on latest firmware update. It has to do with the HDMI color option.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Two Players, Dead WiFi in an Average of 2 Months First player's WiFi died in less than one month, so I was able to exchange. Second's WiFi died after the 90 day warranty, meaning I now have to pay for labor (which is the price of a new player altogether). No thanks... the miracasting from Android worked well, but without WiFi anymore, I can't use it. Can only access online content via wired access. Web apps are slow. Web browser cannot display much online content, only text and certain pictures. Some apps have a pairing option, but if you are using the remote to text, it can be quite painful and slow. I gave up after a while. Player occasionally freezes at transitions from homescreen to: disc play, or internet access, or Netflix startup... the only solution at freeze is to unplug, which can't be good for the player. Latest firmware applied back in Nov 2013, but no update since then to fix my wifi/freezing problems.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 2WIRE Wireless Internet Connection issues I purchased this blue ray player to connect to Netflix via a wireless internet connection. The wireless setup is useless with AT&T's 2WIRE. It simply does not work. At all. WEP-PSK AEP or TKIP Do not purchase this device if you own a 2WIRE Modem. Have moved this to the spare bedroom. Works great as a basic dvd player. Internet features are of course useless without a connection.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not worth the money. I purchased this player for the internet features. You cannot hook up a keyboard or an Android device to the device. Spend less money and get a basic player and another internet device. The menus are confusing when trying to figure out how to do any advanced features. I have a good amount of experience with connecting advanced devices and could not get it to work. I can connect to the internet but having to use the arrow keys for a keyboard is VERY frustrating. The menus are slow as well. Panasonic has an Android app, but this player will not work with it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Regularly freezes/Poor warranty My BR player began freezing up around 90-days in service when watching a disk, streaming, on start up, or shut down. When it freezes, it won't respond to the remote or manual buttons. To get it working I had to unplug it. Unplugging it worked for a few weeks and now it won't even turn on. Since I am beyond the 90-day labor warranty, I was quoted a repair price that is more than what a new one costs. This makes the 2-year parts warranty of little value if you are beyond the 90-day labor warranty.

How To Guided Tutorials
  • What do I do if the unit has no power?
If the unit is not powering on, remove the power cord plug from any power strip it may be connected to and plug directly into the wall outlet.
  • What should I do if my Blu-ray player freezes or locks-up?
If your Blu-ray player is not responding then do as follows:

    1. Unplug all cables and USB devices from the player.
    2. Unplug the power, wait about 30 seconds then reconnect.

We recommend connecting the player (wired) to your network and attempt updating its Firmware again.
  • What can I do if I am have difficulties accessing Netflix?
For Netflix related problems please do the following:

    1. Connect your player to your Wired / Wireless network.
    2. Check to ensure that your player is set to your current "Time Zone". The wrong "Time Zone" may cause connectivity issues. To check the Time Zone, go to "Setup" -> "Player Settings" -> "Network" -> "Network Settings" -> "Network Service Settings" -> "Time Zone".
    3. Click the [Netflix] button on your players remote to launch the Netflix application. If Netflix does not load what is the error message displayed?
    4. If you experience an error in connection do the following: "Setup" -> "Player Settings" -> "Network" -> "Network Settings" -> "IP Address/DNS Settings" -> "DNS Auto Configuration". Change this setting from "On" to "Off" then change your "Primary DNS" to and your "Secondary DNS" to
    5. Check to see if other Apps are able to be accessed. If other Apps can be accessed and Netflix is the only App not loading, this may be a Netflix issue.
  • How do I activate my Netflix account?
Start by pressing the Netflix button on your remote or select the App showing on screen. If you do not already have an existing Netflix account you'll see an option on Netflix screen offering a free month. "Start your Free Month" should already be highlighted. Navigate to the form and Click [OK] and fill out the information as required on the screen.
