DMP-BD55K is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Addition Best player, hands down. Only to be out done by the DMP-BD80. But that's because of the web enabled features and the USB port. Only wish the 55k had the USB port. Not really into the web streaming. This was a great addition to compliment my home theater. I debated between this model and the PS3 as my blu-ray choices. I wanted to get the full use of the HD audio codecs so the Panasonic won out due to it having the analog outs I needed to match with my receiver. It was a Christmas present, and I am very fortunate as they quickly sold out all over. Panasonic has consistently produced some of the best disc players since the beginnings of DVD. They continue with Blu-Ray!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from quality - Quality - QUALITY When I first started looking to purchase my first Blu-Ray player I snubbed my nose at Panasonic. I continued to do research and kept circling back to Panasonic and I am glad I did! I purchased this player and a TH-42PZ85U and performance of these two products far exceeds my expectations. It is a pure shame this Blu-Player and TV have been discontinued but I am sure Panasonic is going to replace it with an even better product. If you can find this player still out there scoop it up quickly before it leaves the shelf.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nearly perfect in every way I bought myself an early Christmas present in 2008 and this is my first Blu-ray player ever. I did a lot of research and read ton's of reviews on all brands of BD players and every time it had me coming back to this BD55 player from Panasonic. I have enjoyed owning this Blu-ray player for 4 month's now. The lossless audio quality is amazing. The picture was to be expect for a Blu-ray player.. stunning. *Only huge down side is that Panasonic no longer makes this wonderful player. If they did.. I would not hesitate to purchase another one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Picture quality is unbelievable and I would have never thought that the sound could be that much better than DVD or CD, dynamics are much much higher than I have heard I am running the audio through 4 stewart amp's creating 5.1 surround at 800 watts per channel and sub bridged at 2400 watts and center set up like sub but turned way down. Unbelievable you are listening to conversations at normal volumes then the race scene starts and the sheet rock starts to crumble the amazing thing is that it is the first cd, dvd and now blu-ray player that does not skip in this situation before I have had to put the player in a separate room. Great product for the price.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not enough SD options! I wanted my Blu-ray player to also be able to play MUSIC. Not just from a CD. But from my music cards that are all SD. Why even bother to put an SD slot in if it's only for showing pictures? How hard can it be to also have it play MP3, WMA, WAV, etc.? Very lame.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I previously bought the Pioneer BDP-51FD had nothng but problems with it. Would not play DVD's that had played on a Panasonic S97S up-scaling player. The Panasonic DMP-55K played all those discs that the Pioneer would not and out performed the Pioneer in picture quality and over-all ease of use. My receiver does not support HDMI audio, so the 7.1 analog output work perfectly for me. It also as High-End quality CD play-back, as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Products I puchased this unit along with the Panasonic 58" Plasma TV TH-58PZ850U. Together, these 2 units are phenominal in picture quality and performance. I highly recommend both items. I have additionl TV comments in a review for that item.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great player This player performs very well. Load speed is good, audio and video are great. Style is quite good also. My only problem was I had trouble making a copy of the firmware update(my player is not yet hooked up to the internet). However, Panasonic is sending me a copy. Outside of that, no complaints.

FAQs
  • What do I do in the unit has no power?
If the unit is not powering on, remove the power cord plug from any power strip it may be connected to and plug directly into the wall outlet.
  • What should I do if my Blu-ray player freezes or locks-up?
If your Blu-ray player is not responding then do as follows:

    1. Unplug all cables and USB devices from the player.
    2. Unplug the power, wait about 30 seconds then reconnect.

We recommend connecting the player (wired) to your network and attempt updating its Firmware again.
  • Why is a "No Read" error message appearing on my players display?

Ensure that the surface of the disc is not dirty, scratched or smudged, or try another disc and see what happens. If the product is unable to play all discs, then it will require servicing.
