With a flat, portable profile and the high performance you've come to expect from LUMIX, the TS10 is not only versatile but also powerful. It is waterproof, freeze-proof, dust-proof, and shockproof, offering incredible durability in virtually any situation. The TS10 also has plenty of advanced technology including folded optics, a generous LDC screen, a 4x optical zoom, 14.1-megapixel CCD, MEGA O.I.S., Intelligent ISO Control, Face Detection and Panasonic's Intelligent Auto Mode, making it easier than ever to capture amazing photos via fully optimized settings. There's also the 720p HD Motion movie recording capability for even greater flexibility.

Whether you're taking everyday shots around town or want to preserve memories from your most incredible adventures, the LUMIX DMC-TS10 delivers with style and reliability.

Technology

4x Optical Zoom Lens with Folded Optics Technology:

The DMC-TS10 has a LUMIX DC VARIO 4x optical zoom lens with folded optics to help protect the lens unit and to give it more strength during shooting in demanding conditions. The lens and exterior of the TS10 are drop-proof from up to 5ft, cushioned by a layer of shock-resistant material for improved reinforcement. The lens has also been equipped with a supplementary damper to help absorb shock on impact. The VARIO lens is even freeze-proof to 14 degrees F.

The TS10 has a powerful 4x optical zoom that is extended to 8.4x at resolution of 3-megapixel or less with the activation of the Extra Optical Zoom function. Combining the Extra Optical Zoom with the 4x digital zoom effectively increases zoom power to an impressive maximum of 33.8x.

With numerous elements, aspherical surfaces and aspherical lenses, the TS10 is a truly advanced unit that renders images in high resolution from corner to corner.

2.7-inch Intelligent LCD Screen with AR Coating:

The TS10 features a generous 2.7-inch screen with Intelligent LCD technology and a 230,000-dot resolution. Brightness is adjusted automatically in 11 steps according to ambient light conditions. The LCD is also enhanced by an exclusive anti-reflective coating, which minimizes glare and delivers high visibility in any situation. The TS10's LCD display provides sharp, clear image playback and its large size makes sharing photos and videos with friends and family even easier.

14.1-megapixel High Resolution CCD:

With the 14.1-megapixel CCD, images stay detailed and well-defined at any reproduction size. Photos as large as A2 are reproduced with stunning clarity and sharpness. Photos can also be cropped or trimmed for a more creative finished effect.

Sonic Speed AF:

The Sonic Speed Auto Focus has been significantly re-engineered with a number of enhancements, including a higher speed actuator, more optimized algorithms and parallel software processing. Auto focus performance is faster and more accurate, and capturing moving subjects or fast action scenes can be achieved with incredible results.

Venus Engine:

Advanced signal processing from the Venus Engine delivers beautiful results, even at high sensitivity settings. The TS10 employs multi-task signal processing for every image, enabling high speed, high performance results. The Venus Engine also improves the precision of various other camera functions such as MEGA O.I.S and Intelligent ISO Control. Along with the boost in power and image processing accuracy, the Venus Engine also supports an enhanced noise reduction system that handles luminance noise and chromatic noise separately for greater overall noise suppression all the way up to ISO 1600 sensitivity at full resolution. This allows for nighttime shots or dim indoor images to be taken that have exceptional clarity and maintain low-light ambiance.

The Venus Engine is also more energy efficient than other image processors, giving users more battery life and longer shooting time on a single battery charge.

Functionality

Rugged Durability:

The DMC-TS10 was made for the outdoors. With a flat, slim profile that fits easily in a day pack or gear bag and a rugged frame that is waterproof, shockproof, dust-proof and freeze-proof, you get the freedom to go anywhere and shoot anything. Panasonic's innovative Intelligent Auto Mode and HD movie recording let you capture your wildest memories in the best possible format so that you'll never forget a moment.

The TS10 also features a unique sealed body design that keeps dust, dirt and water from entering the rubber packing around the socket or battery door, preventing serious camera malfunction. This means you can use the TS10 at the beach or on the trail without hesitation. There's also a custom silicone jacket that protects the camera body from dings and scratches.

Waterproof:

Waterproof to a depth of 10ft in accordance with the IPX8 and IP6X standard, the TS10 is perfect for a day at the beach or pool; you can even use it underwater. If the camera gets dirty or dusty, you can simply rinse it off with water, no need to worry about damaging the device or compromising performance. For pool parties, beach vacations, snorkeling or scuba diving, sailing, surfing and more, the TS10 gives you the opportunity to take photos and videos that other cameras just can't deliver.

Dust-proof:

The TS10 is also dust-proof equivalent to the IPX8 and IP6X standard so you can bring it along on a hike, while playing sports, mountain biking, climbing and more, and you'll never have to worry about dust or dirt particles entering the camera body and ruining the device.

Shockproof:

Playing hard can be hard on your camera, but the TS10 is drop-proof from as high as 5ft and has passed the MIL-STD 810F Method 516.5-Shock test standard. Whether you're securing a line, adjusting a harness or just trying to take a unique shot with one hand, most drops won't have any effect on the TS10 so you can take daring shots with confidence.

Freeze-proof:

There's no better camera than the DMC-TS10 to capture all of your favorite cold weather moments. Freeze-proof to 14 degrees F, you can bring your camera along on your next skiing, snowboarding, skating or snowmobiling trip.

Intelligent Auto (iA) Mode:

Panasonic's innovative Intelligent Auto (iA) Mode makes just about anyone an incredible photographer almost instantly. Just press the dedicated iA Mode button and your TS10 is fully automated to optimize every picture you shoot. Four different correction and detection functions are activated simultaneously, so everything from focus to exposure is taken care of no matter what the shooting conditions are like. There's no need to mess with complex settings or try to guess which controls will best serve your image. The camera does all the work for you, delivering amazing results every time.

Intelligent Scene Selector:

In iA Mode, the Intelligent Scene Selector automatically chooses the best scene mode from among the most popular options: Portrait, Night Portrait, Scenery, Night Scenery, Sunset and Macro. Every aspect of the image is analyzed, including focus distance and the brightness level of your surroundings. You won't have to manually adjust settings every time your shooting situation changes; you can take better photos while travelling or spending a long day in the great outdoors, where your environment or the lighting can change frequently. Your images will be perfectly balanced and clear, allowing you to relive those moments for years to come.

MEGA O.I.S.:

MEGA O.I.S. automatically stabilizes every image, protecting it from the blurring that can be caused by hand-shake. Every time you press the shutter button, your hand moves slightly and makes the camera vibrate; even the tiniest movement can lead to blurry images that are impossible to make out. MEGA O.I.S. samples movement at an impressive frequency of 4000 times per second so even the smallest hand motion is detected and corrected before the image is captured. MEGA O.I.S. also works on zoom and macro shots, and pictures taken in low lighting, all of which are particularly susceptible to blurring. You can capture brilliant sunsets, dim forest scenes, landscapes and action shots with confidence. Regardless of what you are doing or where you're shooting, your images will come out crisp and free from that annoying blur.

Intelligent ISO Control:

Shooting action shots can be tricky, especially when you're participating in outdoor activities. With the Intelligent ISO Control function, the TS10 enables you to capture better action shots by detecting subject movement and automatically adjusting ISO settings and shutter speed to compensate. When motion is detected, the camera instantly raises ISO levels and increases shutter speed for clear images free from motion blur. When a subject is at rest, the camera lowers ISO sensitivity and slows the shutter speed for natural looking still life images. Again, you never have to worry about manually fixing settings to get the best results; the TS10 does all the hard work for you.

Face Detection AF/AE:

Face Detection on the TS10 makes it easy to take beautiful portraits with minimum effort. Faces are automatically detected and optimized for focus and exposure to create natural, stunning results. Face Detection AF prevents the blurring that can happen when the camera focuses on an object in front of or behind your subject; Face Detection AE keeps subjects from appearing too dark when you shoot indoors or against a backlight. The TS10 can identify up to 15 faces in a single frame, even if a face is turned to the side or away from the camera, making this an ideal for large group shots, and Face Tracking stays focused on your subject until you snap the picture, even if the person moves around or changes position. There's automatic red-eye removal, too, so your portraits always look natural and attractive.

HD Video Recording:

Action photos are great, but live video is better, especially when you're hiking, climbing, skiing, sailing or biking. The TS10 records movies in full 1280 x 720 HD at 30 frames per second in Motion format, delivering dynamic and bright motion recording in any setting, from bright sunlight to evening low light.

PHOTOfunSTUDIO 5.0:

Get more from your photos with Panasonic's bundled PHOTOfunSTUDIO 5.0 software. It gives you quick start up and super-fast image read in, allowing you to sort and organize not only the pictures you shoot with the DMC-TS10 but also any older photos you've got stored on your computer. The same Face Recognition feature that lets you take great portraits integrates with PHOTOfunSTUDIO so you can organize your photos based on the person or people in them, giving you quick and easy access to specific pictures. You can create customized slideshows with your favorite iTunes tracks, upload photos to Facebook and put videos on YouTube in seconds, or create impressive 360-degree panoramic shots. Experience your outdoor adventure and vacation photos and videos like never before with the DMC-TS10 and PHOTOfunSTUDIO 5.0.

Extended Battery Life:

With the TS10, you won't have to stop shooting or cut your day short because you've run out of camera battery charge. The energy efficient Venus Engine image processing system and the rechargeable lithium-ion battery work together to give you a much longer shooting time than other compact point-and-shoot cameras, without any extra bulk in the camera body to weigh you down. You can get up to approximately 300 shots on a single battery charge so your adventures are never interrupted.

Summary

If you love the outdoors, the Panasonic LUMIC DMC-TS10 is the compact digital camera that loves you back. Its rugged design and unique body style make it the perfect companion on your next hike, trail ride or snowboarding trip. Because it's waterproof, shockproof, freeze-proof and dust-proof, it goes where you go, whether you're spending a day out on the lake or just need a reliable camera to use at a birthday party. Behind the TS10's durable construction you get all the same advanced technology and usability features that have made the Panasonic LUMIX line so popular with everyday photographers and experienced hobbyists: the Venus Engine image processor, Intelligent Auto Mode, MEGA O.I.S., Face Detection, full HD video recording and much more. Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE IT I got this camera for christmas and it was the best present I have ever received. As a 16 year old girl, I go to a lot of concerts and parties, and i needed a camera that wouldn't break while at these activities. I am extremely satisfied with this camera. Seriously it's amazing; quality pictures, easy to use, and durable!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for me I love this little camera! Takes great pictures and love the underwater feature. I really bought this camera because we needed a rugged camera that wouldn't break easily. This is it! (already dropped it, because I didn't have the strap tightened on my wrist). Takes good clear pictures with the intelligent auto. If you are looking for close pictures this is great. Doesn't have a huge zoom but you should know that when you buy it. I take people pictures and soon underwater pictures. Have fun with this little guy!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from THIS CAMERA SUCKS IN LESS THAN ONE YEAR THE INNER PROTECTION AGAINST WATER IS USELESS. NOW I DONT HAVE ANY WARRANTY AND THE REPAIR COSTS MORE THAN A NEW CAMERA. POOR QUALITY, IM VERY DISSAPOINTED LAST TIME I BUY A PANASONIC CAMERA.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great camera We bought this camera as an all weather compliment to our DSLR. We go kayaking, and our son is in scouts and we frequently accompany them on out door trips and have become the photographer for the troop. Depending on the activity/location and the weather, we needed something that we could take places that would be too dangerous for a DSLR. While the quality is not that of the DSLR you cannot expect it to be any more than you could expect a DSLR to go underwater. The picture quality is VERY good. The camera feels solid and sturdy in the hand. It is no larger than a pack of cigarettes, and fits well in any shirt or pants pocket. It is very easy to use, and I was surprised to find all of the preset scene modes and manual adjustments that it has. My only advice would be, get an extra battery and bring it with you. And remember, It is NOT a DSLR, dont expect it to be. Bottom line, My uncle, who is an amateur photographer, and avid outdoorsman recommended it to me. And I as an amateur photographer and avid outdoorsman would recommend it to anyone else.

Digital Still Camera Firmware Update Guide.

    1) Preparation before attempting the update.

    A. Make sure the camera's battery is completely charged. If the battery is not completely charged the firmware update will not begin. Format the SD memory card in the camera, then take a couple of pictures.
    B. Turn off the camera.

    2) Copying the Firmware to your memory card.
    A. Download the latest firmware update for your model by clicking on the "Download Ver. X.X " link to a location on your computer (we recommend the "Desktop").

  • How long should my battery last?
CIPA figures which range from 300-400 photos (depending on the camera model). CIPA measurement methods use a very controlled method to measure battery life. The procedure takes a specific number of shots at a fixed interval, with a fixed ratio of flash photos. While this method provides a standardized measurement that can be used to compare two cameras, it's far from how the camera is actually used. Life expectancy can be affected by any of the following: If the flash is used, the total number of photos can decrease by 30-40% If the camera has GPS, you can expect up to a 50% reduction in battery life. If the customer has no immediate need for GPS disable the feature in the camera's menu options. While the battery saver feature will turn the LCD panel off after a preset time (and place the camera into sleep mode) the camera still draws some power from the battery. We suggestion, turn the camera after each shot. At social gatherings, try and minimize passing the camera around the table to have others look at the photos. The LCD panel consumes ~30% of the total power.

  • Why do I have spots on some of my photos?
Spots can occur due to dust or dirt inside the lens, or when flash is used in a very dusty environment.

  • What size SD Card can I use in my camera?
Cameras with a manufacturing date of 2006 or before can only use Standard SD Cards (2GB Max). Models manufactured from 2007 to 2009 can only use Standard SD Cards and SDHC Cards (32GB Max). Cameras manufactured 2010 and later are also compatible to the SDXC memory card format. While your camera?s owner?s manual may state a maximum size, that size was the largest that was available when your camera was manufactured. Any currently available SDXC card, which will eventually increase to maximum of 2 TB is compatible. As the maximum size increases, to 2 TB, we do not anticipate any need for firmware updates.

  • Why am I unable to view the photos on my camera after I have deleted some files from the SD card using the computer?
It is not recommended that you delete or modify any photos on your SD memory card using your PC if you plan to move them back to the camera. Doing so can damage the file allocation table and your camera will not be able to read the files. You should immediately copy the remaining photos from your SD card to your PC. After doing so, using your camera, reformat the SD card.

  • What should I do to correct a "System Error Zoom", "System Error Lens", or "System Error Focus" message on my camera?
We recommend you try removing the battery from the unit for approximately 60 seconds and reinstall the battery. If you still receive the "System Error *****" message you will want to consider having the camera serviced.
