Features

Smart, Stylish Shooting

The stylish and feature-rich DMC-FX150 features a 1/1.72 CCD with 14.7 megapixel, the highest number of effective pixels in the compact digital camera class, and combines it with a bright F2.8 DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens.  This lens offers high resolution and smooth gradation across the entire focal range, from wide-angle 28mm to 100mm, to depict subjects with exceptional detail and dynamic realism.  The use of the Extra Optical zoom also lets you zoom up to 7.7x*.

Easy Manual Operation

The DMC-FX150s manual controls and creative-shooting features distinguish it from many of its ultra-compact competitors.  For instance, the Manual Exposure mode lets users choose the shutter speed, giving the freedom to render artistic images of ordinary scenes.  The multi-exposure function superimposes up to three consecutively shot images together while the user views the previous image on the LCD, creating a surrealistic effect that cannot be achieved with a single image alone.  Furthermore, the manual bracketing function includes typical exposure and adds new color bracketing to capture color, monochromatic and sepia shots of an image simultaneously.

iA Mode Prevents Shooting Mistakes in Any Situation

In addition to manual controls, the FX150 also offers Panasonic Intelligent Auto (iA) mode that provides the user with automatic settings adjustments depending on the shooting environment.   A new technology, called AF (auto focus) Tracking, has been added to the iA roster of features.  AF tracking enables the camera to lock focus on a moving object. Additionally, AF Tracking increases Face Detection accuracy, allowing for crisp, sharp-focused shots even if the subject moves while shooting the image**.

* In 3-megapixel resolution mode.

** Face must initially be facing forward to be detected.

DMC-FX150K is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great camera packed into a small size As a 20-year pro, I wanted to upgrade my 8 megapixel point-&-shoot and when I saw this 14.7 megapixel camera, I went for it. I'm still getting to know it just having the camera for less than a month, but diggin' the RAW capability (rarely seen in point & shoot cameras today), the massive 14.7 MPs (sure it's packed into a small image sensor, but what would anyone expect for the great price and compact size?), as well as the quick menu options. For some reason, the auto rotate function isn't working, so I have to rotate any vertical shots (hope to fix that or figure out why), but in general I'm very pleased. I wanted it to be the same size or smaller than my last (a great 8MP camera) and it is - I feel the Leica mass-produced lens is nice as well, and using a 8 GB card gives me over 300 images on the highest file size (RAW + JPEG, which is what I use on my 35mm DSLR). I highly recommend it to anyone- sure the digital noise increases with the higher ISO, but you can expect everything in such a beautiful small package. Well done Panasonic.
