The NN-SN686S has sleek, embossed-look membrane keypad and touch controls plus a 13.4-inch turntable to evenly heat and cook breakfast foods, after-school snacks, dinners, appetizers and more. Ideal for singles, busy professionals and on-the-go families, the Panasonic NN-SN686S provides both manual and automatic cooking options, plus an interior big enough for a 13-inch casserole dish and a stylish exterior guaranteed to complement any kitchen décor.

Better Cooking with Inverter Technology

Patented Inverter Technology delivers a seamless stream of cooking power even at low settings. With the continuous, linear output of Inverter, not only will your food be easily and quickly prepared, you can confidently cook, and even poach, braise and steam foods to perfection. Just as important, the essential vitamins and nutrients you expect in all your meals will be retained.

Great Cooking, No Guesswork

With one-touch sensor cook and reheat, Panasonic takes the guesswork out of creating great meals by automatically setting power levels and adjusting cooking, defrosting and reheating times. The sensor measures the amount of steam naturally produced during cooking and signals the oven's advanced microprocessor to automatically calculate the remaining cooking time at any power level for optimum results.

Sensor Inverter Turbo Defrost

The microwave oven is also designed with Turbo Defrost to help prepare food more efficiently than any Panasonic microwave before it. This advanced feature utilizes a microwave sequencing system based on Inverter's continuous-power delivery method to thaw foods more evenly and quickly.

Sleek Controls

This 1200W high-power microwave represents the best in microwave cooking today. Intelligent, embossed-look membrane keypad and controls provide 14 preset menu options for everyday meals and snacks, plus the manual controls you need for more adventurous menus. Controls and sensors automatically set power levels, monitor and adjust cooking time and when done, keep foods warm until ready to serve.

Added Conveniences

More everyday advantages include a large 13.4-inch diameter glass turntable and a Quick :30 touch control to quickly reheat foods and beverages, and add extra prep time when needed in half-minute increments. A handy delay start feature, 3-stage cooking, bright, time-of-day clock and versatile timer provide even more conveniences. An easy to set child safety lock is also provided to keep young hands from operating the oven.

Maximum Interior, Minimal Footprint

The smarter, more compact transformer and capacitor that comprise the Inverter power unit occupy less interior space than other brands to provide a larger space for cooking. These smaller, more efficient units are also up to 8 pounds lighter than conventional microwave components. All of which adds up to less weight overall and a minimal exterior footprint when placed on a counter.

Keep Warm Feature

A handy keep warm touch control keeps foods warm up to 30 minutes after food is prepared. A steady delivery of low microwave power maintains food temperatures at a constant level without overcooking. So, foods like stew, gravy and desserts remain warm in the oven for up to half an hour after cooking.

Optional Matching Trim Kit

This microwave can be used on any countertop or installed in a wall or cabinetry using an optional matching trim kit NN-TK621SS.

NN-SN686S is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Performance After owning a Panasonic microwave with Inverter technology for many years, I knew I wanted to continue having this feature on a new one. This model is an outstanding performer -- reheats to just the right temperature and defrosts delicately (unlike my previous model, which often got too hot) . I needed to read the manual once to use the various features optimally but after that, things were quite intuitive. (If you don't read manuals, you'll be able to cook but you won't get the best out of your microwave.) With great performance come an attractive style at a good price. One month in, I'm a happy buyer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality control product. Buyer beware Bought the directly on Panasonic website. Decent shipping time. Unit arrived in mint condition. However, lightbulb burned out in less than two days. Called support and got a replacement. Replacement arrived in one week, but it is defective right out of the box. Some buttons on the keypad do not work at all. I will now ask for a return instead of exchange.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Transition from Old to New "Inverter" Microwave We have a Panasonic "Inverter" Microwave which has served us well for more than four years. Recently it has been misbehaving: turning itself off a few seconds after being started, or behaving strangely (uneven fan speed soon after start then stops.) There is unclear evidence as to the cause, but it may be intermittent door switches. My favorite parts supplier does not recognize its model number so I can't order the two microswitches to replace them. Professional service is too expensive compared to the price of a new one and I WILL NOT touch the high voltage circuitry! So we ordered a new unit. It is sitting unused in our basement because the old microwave does start and run OK more than half the time and it has been a good microwave for us over the years. I fully expect the new one will work fine and probably after a few months will install and use it if only to have enough time under the warranty to have it fixed if it turns out to be defective.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Panasonic Microwave This is a better microwave than the previous model, has a light that comes on when door is opened. Easy to use, like 30 second timer as oppose to the 1 minute timer. Door also opens and closes really easy with minimum effort required. Only negative is that the keypad is hard to read except in bright light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product Pros: Performs very well; spacious interior; much lighter weight than other comparable products. Negatives: Loud beeps when finished. Keypad too dark to read under normal lighting. Needs to be either backlit or white letters & numbers for better visibility.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Illogical programs If I have to select an item from the sensor cook list I have to press the button until it appears. For example, to select an item #12, have to press the button 12 times. What a stupid approach! They should give an option to enter the corresponding number after pressing the Sensor Cook button. The so called quick 30 second is not a one touch function. You have to press the “Start” button again to operate it. It should start once we press the Quick 30 button The Cooking Time button should be on the right side of the panel since we use it frequently. They placed the “Clock Set” button on the right side that we don’t use once set the time. They should switch its positions. If the Panasonic R&D group reads this, I request you to create a new model of 1.2cuft with above user-friendly approach. I have another suggestion. In the place of “Popcorn “ one touch button, make that button as programmable by users to assign an item from the list of Sensor Cook. Every person has an item that is frequently used, which can be assigned to that one touch button.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great microwave for the money I bought this approximately 1 month ago, after having my old microwave for a very long time. I was pleasantly surprised how light it was and it fit perfectly in the space I have. Works great, easy to figure out/use controls and heats foods pretty evenly and quite quickly (compared to my old one!). I would recommend this item.
