Inverter Technology

Panasonic Inverter Technology perfects the art of cooking with microwave ovens, delivering delicious flavor, excellent color, and superb shape and texture in the foods you cook. The consistent delivery of microwave energy means delicate foods can simmer without the edges and surfaces overcooking. Foods have the look and taste you expect— without the wait!

Inverter Turbo Defrost Adds a Little Cooking Boost

Panasonic has succeeded in evolving Turbo Defrost™, which allows you to defrost foods even faster than previous Panasonic Auto Defrost. Panasonic Inverter Turbo Defrost technology is an advanced microwave sequencing system using the Inverter low-power delivery feature.

Keep Food Warm Until You're Ready to Eat

A pulsing delivery of very low microwave power keeps food temperature at a constant level-without overcooking. Food like stew, gravy and desserts remain warm in the oven until you are ready to serve.

Reheating and Cooking Made Simple

One-Touch Genius Sensor Cook and Reheat adjusts power levels and calculates cooking times automatically, making reheating and cooking a variety of foods easier than ever.

Multi-Lingual Menu Action Screen

The Menu Action Screen is like having a gourmet chef to assist you in the kitchen. It scrolls step-by-step cooking instructions across the display in a choice of English, Spanish, or French.

Clean and Smudge-Free Cabinet Finish

The Stainless Fingerprint Resistant finish on the front of our Genius Prestige Microwave ovens helps reduce the amount of unsightly smudging normally found on stainless appliances. So your microwave will look its best even when you are preparing some of your messiest recipes.

Make More Room on Your Countertop

The Prestige Countertop Microwave Oven can also be installed in the wall using an optional matching trim kit accessory.

Sleek Control Panel with Blue Fluorescent Display

The silver button control panel, illuminated neon blue spin dial and generous 6-digit expanded BLUE fluorescent display provide a high-end look and an effortless navigation experience in the kitchen.

Rated 2.4 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Like apparently every other consumer who trusted the Panasonic brand, I have a broken door latch and a non functioning microwave after a few short years. Hoping Panasonic will offer to remedy its design shortcomings. No one budgets for having to replace a basic core kitchen appliance which has had light use every 4 years.... January 29, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Poorly Designed... on my second one Unfortunately I need to replace my existing Panasonic built-in with another, or I wouldn't have bought my second unit. My other microwave "broke" because the door locking mechanism attaches to a rather flexible piece of sheet metal that isn't supported. With continued usage, the metal flexes and the door mechanism stops working. Constant readjustment further weakens the metal. All Panasonic had to do was provide a small piece of support, or even an extra bend in the metal. Instead, I get to buy a new Panasonic Microwave every few years to overcome their quality design problems. I like the features and functionality. I just don't like having to replace an appliance due to design problems. December 21, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Great while in operation, very poor durability This is the third Panasonic microwave oven we've owned over the past four years. The first failed very quickly with a broken door latch mechanism. It was replaced by our local appliance dealer under warranty. The second failed almost a month to the day after the warranty expired. Reason: broken door latch mechanism. Our dealer provided us this new Inverter equipped Panasonic. It lasted the longest - approximately 2 years - until, you guessed it, the door latch mechanism broke. We have quite a few Panasonic products in our home including a 55" Plasma TV. We will no longer purchase Panasonic microwave ovens until they eliminate the frail push-button door latch mechanism. February 26, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Door Switch Failure Bought in 2012 and in December of 2014 it's failing as manu others I've read. Have to slam the door to MAYBE get it to work. Bad design. I'm now looking at a Breville model for replacement. December 7, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Inverter Impressed I recently bought the inverter technology for my home and I only wonder what took me so long to make the change. I like the cook bacon wrapped in paper towels to make them crispy and remove a lot of the fat. The problem has always been that the outer bacon often got burned while the inner was not yet crispy. Not so with the inverter. The bacon is as crispy in the middle as in the outer portion and it is all crispy without being burnt and taking a lot less time to cook. Popcorn and prepared foods are also in perfect balance. The only negative is it took me so long to make the change. Great device at a great price with the best cooking results I have ever experienced in a micro wave. November 25, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Bitten by the Door Latch Issue Sadly, our NN-SD797S Panasonic microwave is dead-by-door switch. We've had it less than 2 years now and clearly many here have the same issue with this model. Normally I'd make a change but we did the built in kit and it was more expensive than the microwave itself. :( Now the hard choice... buy another and know it's a throw away or bite the bullet and go to a different brand/model and have to do the built in kit for it. No good choices it seems. October 31, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Door latch is of poor quality and design We bought a Panasonic NN-SD797S microwave back in October 2011 and it has completely stopped working after moderate use. From the beginning the door had required a hard push to close which was quite annoying. However, now the door mechanism has completely failed( July 2013.) My wife called couple of local appliance repair shops, and they all said don't bother repairing this unit. I searched the Internet, and just as other reviewers have noticed, door latch problem appears on multiple Panasonic models. When I opened the microwave to see what the issue was, it simply appears to be bad design and poor quality parts. I certainly would not recommend this product to anyone, and will be quite reluctant to buy/recommend any Panasonic products in future. July 21, 2014
