Its constant F2.8 zoom is suitable for professionals and enthusiasts capturing a wide range of scenes from dynamic landscapes to available light and studio lit portraits, to high-speed sports action. X Series Design

Panasonic's long time collaboration with Leica inspired a uniquely LUMIX in-house design for a premium lens series exclusively for LUMIX G Series Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras. With the X Series Lenses, LUMIX is blending its own unique mix of broadcast video and advanced mirrorless camera technologies into a premium lens line. In several X Series models LUMIX blended forward looking features like advanced near silent Power Zoom (PZ Models) and advanced POWER O.I.S. support for improved video capture. The 35-100mm X lens features a professional grade constant aperture in a compact sealed body design suitable for professional studio and event photography, as well as sports action. (LUMIX G X VARIO 35-100mm, H-HS35100, 35mm camera equivalent: 70-200 mm).

    Nano Surface Coating

The LUMIX G X VARIO 35-100mm / F2.8 lens incorporates Panasonic's unique Nano Surface Coating technology which minimizes reflections through the entire visual range (380nm-780nm), resulting in a dramatic reduction of ghosts and flare for extremely clear picture quality.

Travel Light and Protected from Natures Elements

Boasting outstanding compactness, the LUMIX G X VARIO 35-100mm / F2.8 lens is approximately 99.9mm in length and 12.7oz in weight, resulting in extreme mobility. Additionally with a rubber ring on the lens mount, the new lens is designed to stand against moisture and dust making it ideal for outdoor photography enthusiasts. A highly reliable metal mount endures long time use.

    Professional Grade Glass

The LUMIX G X VARIO 35-100mm / F2.8 lens system is comprised of 18 lenses in 13 groups. The UED (Ultra Extra-Low Dispersion) glass minimizes chromatic aberration while the UHR (Ultra High Refractive) lens realizes high descriptive performance from corner to corner. Featuring high contrast and resolution from the center to corner at entire zoom range, the new LUMIX G X VARIO 35-100mm/F2,8 ASPH./POWER O.I.S. lens has the ability to capture the details of scenery or portrait with rich perspective.

Advanced Focusing and Aperture Blade Design

The lens' superior inner focus system provides for excellent resolution and contrast without changing the overall length from full life-size magnification to infinity. Seven blades give the aperture a rounded shape that produces an attractively smooth defocus effect in out-of-focus areas when shooting at larger aperture settings. When mounted on any LUMIX G Micro System camera body, users can take advantage of the high-speed, high-precisions Contrast AF (Autofocus) system.

POWER O.I.S. for Improved HD Video Support

The lens' integrates POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) which effectively compensates for both small, fast movement and large, slow movement, making it easy to shoot extremely clear photos even in low-lit situations such as at night or indoors. Adopting an inner focus system driven by a stepping motor, the lens' superior design provides smooth and near silent focusing action which is ideal for both picture and video recording.

    H-HS35100 is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very satisfied in every way I've used this lens with an Olympus OMD E-M1 for a year. Lens IS is not an issue. I shoot stills only, no video. My rating/review is based on how I use the lens. Not the best walk around/street focal length, but usable in so many situations. I find the majority of my pictures that I really like were shot with this lens - not all, but 6 out of 10. The colors and contrast are just more involving (I'm talking straight out of the camera). You can focus close enough for individual flowers, portraits are very nice in the 45 to 60mm range (bokeh is nice in the center, drifts into football shapes at the edges) , enough reach for sports if you are relatively close. I use this lens primarily outdoors so f2.8 is adequate. It is very well built, has excellent resolution and is compact (which is why I bought into the micro 4/3 system to begin with - easy to travel and walk with and capable of great images). I would not consider the lens a bargain at the list price, but when the price drops (as it intermittently does) grab it. This lens is always in my bag,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love this lens the quality of the lens is obvious as soon as you open the box. The performance and constant aperture makes this such a great addition to my collection of micro 4/3 glass

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Excellent for stills, useless for video I love this lens for stills. It has great contrast and I get lovely pictures from it. However it is horrible for video. I made a comparison on youtube of a video taken with my LX100 and GX7 with the 35-100/2.8 lens at the same focal length. The 35-100/2.8 lens clearly _ADDS_ shake to the captured image. I can do better (capture less shake) with the OIS off! This is even after the latest firmware upgrade in January 2015.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very good lens, but useless OIS for video I was shocked after trying to use this lens for the first time for handheld video. The so-called optical image stabilization is worse than useless for handheld video -- it actually ADDS micro-shakes! I also have the 12-35 f/2.8, and it is wonderful all around, with perfectly usable OIS. If you want this lens for photography only, or for video using some other form of stabilization, then by all means, this is a very good lens. But do NOT expect to use this lens to shoot any handheld video using its OIS.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from great images, horrible OIS The optical qualities of the H-HS35100 lens are great. Overall focus speed is quite good, and I would see this being a very good lens for many still photographers. However, the OIS is absolutely horrible for video! It creates micro jitters that ruin video shots. My inexpensive Panasonic 14-140mm kit lens, and 12-35mm lens both have very capable OIS that I rely on frequently. I was shocked to see how poorly the 35-100mm lens' OIS performed. This has been confirmed by many other owners of the lens, and yet Panasonic does not seem to acknowledge the issue. Its a pity that such an otherwise wonderful lens would be so expensive and yet so flawed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 4K? It's curious that the 4K video capture settings are grayed out in my GH4 video settings with this lens? 4K works great with the 100-300, F4.0-5.6.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If I had one lens, this would be it This lens surprised me with its superb image quality, throughout the entire F-stop range, and also center-to-frame edge sharpness. It has the color character of the finest German lenses. Details really stand out with this lens. This lens is different from other less expensive lenses in the line-up because the body is metal, not hard plastic. This adds some overall weight to the camera, yet does not seem to put the camera out of balance when holding. The standard 58mm thread size is also a big plus, since many of my filters are 58mm. I would have to say this lens is in a class by itself.

Digital Still Camera Firmware Update Guide.

      1) Preparation before attempting the update.

      A. Make sure the camera's battery is completely charged. If the battery is not completely charged the firmware update will not begin. Format the SD memory card in the camera, then take a couple of pictures.
      B. Turn off the camera.

      2) Copying the Firmware to your memory card.
      A. Download the latest firmware update for your model by clicking on the "Download Ver. X.X " link to a location on your computer (we recommend the "Desktop").
