Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 8 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by First purchase after buying m 4/3 body. This was the first lens I purchased after buying my first Lumix camera. I gave my son one of my old cameras, and also gave him the 20mm because he asked for it. I thought I might not need to buy another copy, but it wasn't long before I knew I had to have my own copy of the 20mm lens. I do street photography, and this lens is the one that I keep on my camera much of the time. It is small, tack sharp and makes beautiful photos. If you could only have one lens this would be the one. Rated 5 out of 5 by best pancake lens this is hands down my favorite lens. great in low light, compact. very sharp. best value for the price. if i were to suggest one lens to always have around it would be this one February 17, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great lens a must have I purchased this lens and used it at a wedding without flash and also for night street photography it is fast, responsive, and very light Very well made and on the street not even noticable Great optics and lens a must have for all Micro 4/3 rds users February 17, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Tack sharp, small, great contrast Just purchased this for my OMD E-M5. Pictures look great! It focuses a little slow on this camera but that's to be expected since it's not a Panasonic. I purchased this instead of the Oly. equivalent because this one is sharper. February 17, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great lens - just be aware of its problems... When I bought this lens, I knew what to expect from it. It is very well-liked for its small size and excellent image quality even at f/1.7 (despite strong vignetting wide open). And the price is really good these days! However, the 20mm pancake lens is also notorious for a few issues which I decided I could probably live with. I need to mention these first: 1. Slow autofocus mechanism: Yes, it's slower than most newer lenses, sometimes taking over a second to focus. However, if you're not shooting fast action, this lens is perfectly fine. I found the autofocus to be fast enough and, more important, very accurate. But I mainly use this lens to photograph static subjects. 2. Banding (striping) when used on certain camera bodies such as Panasonic GH3, Olympus PEN, and Olympus OM-D. No, I'm not talking about the wide stripes one sometimes sees when photographing under flickering artificial light with an electronic shutter. I'm talking about fine horizontal lines in darker areas of a photo taken in low light. It is most visible when you underexpose (perhaps to compensate for a bright object in the scene), shoot at high ISO values, and shoot at smaller apertures. It is most easily avoided at f/1.7, by exposing for shadows and not for highlights (i.e., exposing to the right end of the histogram), and by keeping the ISO setting low. There is another way to avoid the problem entirely: use a camera that isn't affected, or - if you have an Olympus E-M5 II - use its electronic shutter (silent mode). I am so fortunate to have this latter option, as I am an Olympus user and found that my indoor photos are very strongly affected by the banding issue. The silent shutter is a good solution for me. (At this time, I don't know if this solution works on any affected Panasonic cameras, as I don't own them.) Panasonic has acknowledged the issue in some of its camera manuals. So has Olympus. But you might find that you're on your own to discover how bad the problem is and how to avoid it. Tech support doesn't seem to understand it well enough to provide guidance. I wouldn't say avoid this lens - I certainly didn't, and have no regrets! Just be aware of its limitations and decide if they are OK for you. I love it, warts and all. I never have to think about taking it with me - it just goes in my pocket when it's not on the camera. November 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sharp and Compact Prime I've paid 2-3 times this for fast, compact primes for DSLRs. This is certainly one of the best values in the micro four thirds realm. I've never experienced the extended focus seeking others complain about in low-light conditions. Whenever I travel, this lens is never left behind. November 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by fantastic little lens I use this lens almost exclusively indoors. Especially at my kids Vball or BBall games because of its sharp and crisp images, it does not matter that I am 20 or 30ft away. I just crop the image to blow up the areas I care about if want close up. It is that good. Compared to my 14-140, I can get 2-3x light which means 2-3x shutter speed. so no more blurred images. of course some manual adjustment is needed to get best output. Biggest pro is its small size. It fits into small bag or in wife's purse. so noone questions if it is an SLR or not when some venues dont allow professional camera. March 23, 2015
