Las Vegas (February 4, 2014) – For over 20 years, Panasonic has led the way in innovation, and continues to do so with the introduction of EcoVent™ as a solution to a major industry challenge for custom and production builders and contractors: passing airflow testing by home energy raters. Unveiled at the 2014 International Builders’ Show (IBS), EcoVent is an economically priced, easy-to-install ENERGY STAR® rated vent fan that incorporates a unique Veri-Boost™ feature to ensure that designed airflow is achieved to help meet ASHRAE 62.2, ENERGY STAR 3.0 for Homes, LEED for Homes, CA Title 24, CalGreen and most green building programs – without compromising the look and style of any bathroom.
“Energy raters are now verifying the airflow of installed vent fans prior to certifying that they meet green building standards,” said Patricia Monks, Product Manager, Panasonic Eco Solutions North America. “Therefore, it is becoming increasingly important that builders install products that actually deliver designed airflow. EcoVent™ with Veri-Boost™ provides the necessary power and assures that fans will pass verification testing.”
If a fan fails to deliver the designated airflow, builders are being required to either call electrical contractors back to see if they can change the duct work to make it pass, or in some cases, rip out the underperforming fan and replace it. EcoVent eliminates the risk of losing or damaging parts with its easy to manage universal contractor packs that allow contractors to store components safely and separately on site.
“EcoVent helps ensure that builders will avoid the expense and hassle of replacing duct work or even replacing underperforming fans,” Monks adds.
The compact 70 CFM ventilation fan has a quiet operation of 1.1 sones at 0.1 water gauge (w.g.), and is equipped with a unique Veri-Boost™ switch, that when turned on, bumps up the CFM output if necessary to meet airflow requirements. The Veri-Boost™ integral switch provides a 20 CFM boost, helping assure the fan meets designed airflow requirements and provides Ventilation Verification Assurance: greater than or equal to 50 CFM installed performance. At 50 CFM, EcoVent™ still has a quiet operation of 1.4 sones at 0.25” w.g.
The EcoVent grille has a 46.6% smaller footprint than comparable ENERGY STAR fans on the market. Additionally, the EcoVent grille design is small and aesthetically pleasing, fitting seamlessly into the ceiling and making it the ideal solution for the bathroom, powder room or laundry room area. For easier installation, EcoVent includes a 4” duct adaptor and a low-profile housing that fits in 2”x6” construction.
