JVMI, International Faith-Based Broadcaster, Equips New Studio With Five Panasonic AK-HC3800 HD Studio Cameras

Jewish Voice Ministries International (JVMI) has purchased five Panasonic AK-HC3800 HD studio cameras for a major upgrade of its production studio, located at the organization’s headquarters in Phoenix, AZ.

The international faith-based broadcaster/content provider airs five shows per week through affiliates in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The original programming is created using equipment from Panasonic and more than 100 other manufacturers. The content is used to promote JVMI’s ministries, charities and global outreach.

JVMI’s Executive Producer Dave Erickson noted, "I've worked with Panasonic cameras on many high-profile network shows and trusted the HC3800 camerass would be very competitive. Our exhaustive evaluation process confirmed not only amazing value, but ultimate broadcast quality to meet our production demands."

Prior to the recently completed upgrade, JVMI had utilized a tape-based acquisition and editorial workflow. According to Ed Vogt, President of EAR Professional Audio Video (Phoenix, AZ), which provided design, integration, installation and support to the project, “The previous workflow was very time-consuming, restricted in its capabilities and approaching the end of its reliable life expectancy.”

“JVMI wanted a top-tier network look to their programming,” he continued. “Allocating substantial budget for a new set and custom-designed lighting system created the need for camera systems that were capable of capturing the depth and feel of the updated look. In evaluating the best broadcast cameras available, extensive analysis and double blind testing showed Panasonic to be the clear winner.”

Vogt said that, in addition to improving the quality and reliability of their systems, JVMI invested in an automated Avid iNews system that allows producers to create the show scripting, prompter, graphics and most show elements.

The first set of shows recorded with the HC3800 studio cameras was completed at the end of March, and will begin to air later this month.
