Clark Media Invests in Panasonic AK-UC3000 4K Cameras for Mobile and Fly-Pack Systems
Clark Media, a leading provider of 4K and HD production systems nationwide, has purchased eight of Panasonic’s just-released AK-UC3000 4K cameras for mobile and fly-pack systems.
According to President/Engineer Gary Snyder, Clark Media selected the UC3000 camera systems for projects requiring a 4K camera using standard 2/3-inch lens mounts. The cameras will be on display at the National Association of Broadcasters convention in a new 4K/HD mobile unit at the Gerling and Associates booth, OE601.
“We evaluated numerous 4K cameras and made our decision based on the UC3000’s incredible colorimetry and resolution, at a very affordable price point,” said Snyder. “With all the features and the familiar switch and control layout of top-of-the-line broadcast models, the UC3000 is the robust camera that will easily address our high-end clients’ demands.”
“The camera’s AK-UCU500 SMPTE fiber CCU provides all the necessary features in a compact 2RU package, and we’ll use it in both our fly-pack systems and our new 4K/HD mobile unit,” he continued.
Clark Media owns multiple VariCam 35 4K cinema camera/recorders, and the company’s relationship with Panasonic dates back to the original tape-based VariCam. “We continue to use the VariCam 35 for ‘cinematic’ productions, but required a 2/3-inch mountable camera that would accept traditional long lens for concerts and other live events,” Snyder said. “Panasonic clearly understands this market the best--the UC3000 has the ability to shoot V-REC and F-REC for clients wanting the saturation and extended exposure latitude familiar to VariCam customers.
“Many of our clients are asking for the ‘Panasonic look,’ which is an increasingly popular choice for studio-based television and performance productions. We’re glad that we now have a 4K 2/3-inch lens mount solution.”
Snyder said Clark Media worked with MCCOM Inc, a regional Panasonic dealer, to secure the camera package in time for a large-scale project starting shortly.
