Panasonic Secures Global Top Market Share for Rugged Notebooks and Tablets

Market leadership news coincides with Panasonic’s 20th year in the mobile computing business; reflects longstanding global leadership and success

Panasonic System Communications Company of North America (PSCNA), an industry leader in exceptionally reliable and innovative mobile computers, today announced the company has been recognized as the global leader in rugged notebook and tablets sales for 2015, according to VDC Research. The new report, “Strategic Insights 2015: Enterprise Mobility Solutions,” revealed Panasonic leads both categories in revenue and units shipped globally and in all regions the report tracks – the Americas, EMEA and Asia-Pacific. Panasonic sold 58.9% of the rugged notebooks and 50.7% of the rugged tablets purchased globally in 2015.

In a market that has seen its share of device manufacturer instability, Panasonic’s consistently strong global market share is a reflection of the company’s long standing reputation for product quality, unmatched market expertise, customer-centric business practices and financial stability.

“At Panasonic, we build products for how our customers actually use them, rather than how we want people to use them,” said Brian Rowley, Director of Marketing and Product Management, Panasonic System Communications Company of North America. “Our success comes from designing products that address our customers’ everyday challenges in order to make their businesses more productive and their lives less complicated. To achieve this goal, we rely on feedback and insights from customers around the world, and we are very thankful for their continued input and loyalty.”

Two Decades of Rugged Mobility Leadership
In 1996, Panasonic introduced the Toughbook 25, which marked the beginning of one of the most respected and enduring brands in mobile computing. Since that introduction, the company has achieved numerous market firsts, patents and accolades. In 2011, Panasonic introduced its Toughpad line of rugged tablets, further increasing its ability to meet the needs of a growing enterprise mobility market. Most recently, the company introduced the Toughbook 20, the world’s first fully rugged detachable laptop, and the Toughpad FZ-N1 and FZ-F1, the world’s lightest fully rugged handheld computers.

In addition to Panasonic’s reliable products, customers look to the company to deliver mobile computing solutions that help address the challenges of running their business. Extensive vertical focus across B2B sectors ensures Panasonic has a deep understanding of their customers’ specific business challenges and can deliver purpose-built devices and total solutions that help improve efficiencies and productivity and provide ongoing value over the life of the device. From evaluation to deployment to management and retirement, Panasonic has solutions that help reduce the complexity of managing a mobile deployment and, as a result, reduce the strain on a company’s IT staff.

“The people that design, manufacture and support our products are another critical element in our success. We have the most knowledgeable engineers, sales and support teams in the business. The human part of our brand is just as critical to our customers’ achieving their business goals as our products are,” continued Rowley.
